I'm making my list and checking off items one at a time as I get them done. Opening day is my favorite day of the year.

3. Have a good vacation. Even a great one after Tuesday...
Will you be in the mountains? I'll be on the NE edge of the Texas Hill Country hunting in the armpit of a heavily wooded mesa hiding a spring. Should be great fun. Good luck Redneck!

4. I'm in the southern part of the state. Nothing that I would call a mountain around here.
Lot's of hills though.

It's been a fun season so far. I'm seeing lots of deer, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Between New Hampshire and Maine the season runs until December 13th so I have plenty of time. Unfortunately I'm only allowed one deer in each state so if I shoot a deer at the beginning of the season the fun ends early.

2. Will be heading out for General Gun in Texas this Saturday...
My friend's 125 acre place is loaded with too many deer, and I aim to do something about that. Damned dry, dry, dry; but he has a spring running through a PCV pipe out the side of a mesa, and I'm betting the deer will be hanging around there. Second year of antler restriction (either at least one spike, or main beam spread of at least 13 inches). But I'll probably take a big doe as these gals are the most prolific when breeding. The place will get picked over, otherwise. Last year another friend spotted a mountain lion near the spring. I better be on the watch for him. Jesus, this is getting all big-game on me! Good luck, Bear!
