1. I do a lot of ocean kayaking.
I tried canoeing, but I was really bad at it. I like the wide open spaces (and room for error) of ocean kayaking.

Where do you paddle?

2. I love it and we have 3 that we use.
I'll just paddle on the lake here or do some fishing...depends on my mood.

4. I should clarify. I have one canoe I have had for decades and......
we have 3 kayaks. My 12.5 wilderness tsunami, my wife's 12' Kestrel, and my 17" Dagger. We got the kayaks when we sold our last sailboat. I crack people up carrying a guitar on the back of the kayak when friends have, what they call a boatenanny. They all have power boats and I paddle out to meet them. Fun

5. Took a chance and bought a home made
fiberglass canoe a couple of days ago for $200. It was built in the mid 80s. Went out in it yesterday and no leaks. Caught enough crappies for dinner. Seems a little low in the water. The sides were only about 4 or 5 inches above the water. It is 17 ft. and I wonder how it will do with 2 people in it. I'm guessing and hoping it will level out and remain well above the water line. Either I'm getting old, 60, or it seems much heavier than my 18 ft. alum. one from years ago. I can get it down to the water, about 20 feet, but not sure about tossing it over my head and going 100 yards.

6. Yup! My wife and I bought an Old Town Dirigo 140 several years ago...
and we both paddle local creeks. It's peaceful, and the extended cockpit allows us to take one of the kids along when we go.
