Any sailors out there? Check in.
Thinking about the new season and wondered if there were any sailors amongst us. Pics are of a couple of my boats. I also have a 17' O'day that I don't have any pics of yet. Actually I'm going to get rid of the little one because a nephew really wants a boat so I'm just going to give it to him. He's a good kid. The big one a fellow from Alaska wants to buy but I'm really having second thoughts. It probably depends on which day he catches me.

1. I used to own an O'Day Javelin
My first sailboat. I also bought a Jet 14 because I wanted to race in a local fleet. I did a lot of yacht racing a decade ago crewing on a Hobie Cat and a J-24. One year, I counted 65 starts in several regattas and countless Wednesdays and Sundays.

What a wonderful way to get out and enjoy nature it is. I like watching the changing weather and the marine life. We would sight bald eagles at our inland lake.

That top boat has two foresails, doesn't it?

2. Sailing can be a great way to relax or................
it can just as easily be "White Knuckle" time. Our choice I guess. I love just letting the wind do it's thing or just sitting on the boat, drinking a beer and throwing a fishing line out. I'm easy.

Yeah, the top boat is a cutter so it has a mainsail, staysail and foresail. Everything is set up so I can run it single-handed but having said that, it seems that the more critical the situation the more likely it is that a line will jam on the forward deck and I will still have to leave the helm to go fix it. LOL, that's just the way it is.

5. There is just something about a Gaff-Rigged..............
boat that always catches my eye. I think it's the combination of beauty and history.
