My first of the season


Breakfast on the first day. (I'm in the red and black falnnel.)


Recharging after taking two more on day Monday. I didn't hunt Sunday, we had company.

1. Is that a Ruger International and...

2. It's a Ruger .44 Carbine with the obvious Mannlicher stock, 1964 run.

I was dozing. I had 2 down within 40 yards of me. I'd field dressed both and hung 'em in a tree. I was waiting for my buds to pull up stakes and come around with the Gator to haul 'em back to the barn.

Catch 40 winks when you can because the poker games sometimes run late.

3. I didn't get crap hunting!

Holy crap am I frustrated. To sit out and the rain for 2 days and not even get a shot off really sucks. Now I need to wait until next year to get one.

Fortunately, my friend got a doe, so I got a portion of the meat from that, but I really wanted my own.

Oh well, wait until next year.

11. I shot these two elk this year

Ok, I shot em with my camera. Nah, I didn't get this one in a million chance out in the wild. These boys are in a caged preserve. The big daddy is off to the side romancing all the lady elk, while these guys sit and watch, thinking "one of these days..."
