What make and model are these guns?

2. hmmm

one on the left looks like one of the RPK-variant medium machine guns (7.62x49mm). Notice the machine gun ammo belts around left guy's shoulders, the apparent ammo box magazine at the bottom of the left gun (or maybe it's his left elbow?), and the folded bipod under the barrel.

The one one the right looks like a Dragunov-type sniper rifle (7.62x54mm?), based on the skeleton stock, short magazine, and rifle scope.

As an aside, what ever happened to this guy, or the other hostages taken over the past few months (US, AUS, and now Japan)?:shrug:
