Has anyone else tried managed recoil ammo?

Remington has a new product on the market called managed recoil ammunition. We tried it in my wife's new .270. Without setting up the rig to measure felt recoil, we staggered the rounds in the magazine and used our shoulders for the test. I was impressed! The recoil felt as advertised - 50% less. A firend tried the 30-06 in his Woodmaster. The semi-auto cycled flawlessly with it.

You get a lighter bullet in the .270, 115 gr. It's a new design made to reduce recoil while maintaing as much stopping power as possible. You give up a couple hundred feet of muzle velocity. Remington claims it's dandy for ranges up to 200 yds. It appears to be more than just a downloaded round. We're gonna try it on Bambi this week if Mrs. alwynsw gets a look.

For any who are recoil sensitive, like Mrs. alwynsw, this looks like the way to go.

I've been hunting with belted magnums for over 25 yrs. When Elk hunting i carry a 8mm Mag or a 338. When deer hunting i carry a 300 Weatherby. My smallest deer rifle is a 257 Weatherby. Love them Magnums.

3. You know I'm a mag fan.

But the wife is a bit touchy on recoil.

I do admit that my .375 Ouch & Ouch gets my attention.

5. .375 Ouch & Ouch, ( thats funny ) hadn't heard that.

Used to have a pre 64 Winchester Safari Grade in .375 Ouch & Ouch. One of the smoothest actions on a stock rifle I've ever felt. Remarkabley accurate if you could stay calm behind the recoil. Gave it to an old friend when he moved back to Alaska. He's taken several large moose and 2 big bears. "Hell" he even hunts Caribou with it.

6. No wonder the 7.62 x 39 is considered too small...

I havew avoided the .30-06 because I thought it was overkill.

I know: Never too much gun or too many rounds of ammo.

7. I like the 06 best because:

I don't handload anymore. The 06 has the widest variety of factory loads I've seen. You can go from a 55 gr. Accelerator up to 220 gr. at most gun shops. I've even seen factory loads up to 260 gr.

The wide variety of ammo available makes the 06 just about ideal for almost any hunting condition form dense brush to open country.

9. I did literally...

Cut a groundhog in two with the 06. Had the 125 gr. The accelerators accuracy was less than the 125's. I suspect it was a need for a really thorough cleaning since it is a ca. 1950's firearm, but it is my Dad's and I have had no opportunity for thorough bore cleaning.

11. Same problem with accelerator ammo, poor accuracy.

125 grain makes an excellent round for predators. If you not taking the hide.

2. just the 12 gauge slugs

BIG difference in recoil, not a big difference on point-of-impact, etc, out to 50m.

4. My wife loves the difference in her new .270 with MR ammo.

She's the recoil sensitive one around here.

10. The P.A.S.T. recoil pads,

are great. I use one when load testing,without one after about 20 rounds I'm usually bruised.
