3 rock bass, 2 perch, 5 smallies. All on muddlers. My brother got 2 smallies on worms.

I almost gave up on this season but things are getting promising.

1. Gave up!? Damn ye for a fool man!
Well I don't know where ludington or Hamlin are, but up here abouts I'm tearin' 'em up, the basses that is.

I had three days off during the holiday week and fished a different lake each day. I caught the hell out of them wherever I went. It don't get no more better than this.

2. michigan freaky weather...
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 02:32 PM by banjosareunderrated
didn't bode well this year but things seem to be ok. I've been getting skunked in realiable areas this year. We had too much cold in the spring, then a warm spell followed by a cold snap.

Our bass have been moody this year, probably had a tough spawn.

Good to hear you're lines are tight. What's been good for ya, deer hair or wets?

3. Well, I have to admit...
that I'm something of a philistine when it comes to bass fishing. Out come the bait casters and a whole arsenal of outlandish lures. The fly rod comes out for trout and stripers.

If I were fly fishing for bass I would be throwing a lot of streamers, big nymphs and other wet flies. The topwater bite is just starting to turn on here so the deer hair and the poppers would just seeing the water.

4. gotcha. Most michigan bass waters get so much pressure...
from lures and bait, flies actually give us an advantage. I admit that more than half of the bass i get hit the thing just to find out what the hell it is and then keep it cuz it's "soft".

I enjoy anthropomorphising, don't you? :D It's comforting.
