Why does this 0.22 pull to the left?

I bought a Winchester model 9422 Legacy second hand. It prints a little to the left. It has a factory open sight and an aftermarket receiver mounted aperature sight. Both were pushed to the right when I go it and sure enough it is necessary to shoot "straight." verything seems to be in order. The bore looks good.

you want to move the rear sight the same direction you want the bullet to go. If you are moving the front sight you move it the opposite direction you want the bullet to go.

If the rear sight is all the way to the right you might try moving the front sight to the left, but I don't know that the front sight is at all adjustable on the Legacy.

...on the rear sights. I am just wondering why it is necessary. Is this a common occurrence for a perfectly functioning rifle to pull one way or the other? I figured with a 22" barrel the bullet would pretty much come straight out.

3. Lots of things affect the flight path of a bullet

Pressure on the barrel from the stock, the crown of the muzzle, the type of bullet, the powder used, etc. The bullet's going as straight as it can given the laws of physics.
