1. I've only ever used polypro.

Though I regularly wear a fleece hat and neck gaiter so that pretty much amounts to a balaclava I guess.

I use the poly pro more as a liner, or as head gear when I'm sleeping and the fleece as regular "everyday" wear if you will.

OK so I guess that clarifies absolutely nothing for you, sorry. :(

And I live in Northern Minnesota where winter is the best 9 months of the year.
