Many thanks to all who started this group...it was next on my list of things to do.:)

I am sure Dennis will continue to speak the truth as he always has.

I am really happy to have this forum where it will be easier to keep track of everything Congressman Kucinich will be doing on our behalf :)

and did I mention...DK:yourock:

1. HI Desertrose!
I have missed you and frankly everyone who came together to support DK. I hope we are all able to get back together here. This group will be very useful as well as fun. I am finding that so many people do not think anyone is out there doing anything but we know DK is. If you post about it no one seems to ever look at the threads. Here we can compile articles and instances of his work and others can be refered to it. YAY! :hi: and an big :grouphug: to all of you. I'll have to go get my son to join this group, he caucused for Congressman Kucinich with his father and me. Another member for DK.

it was quite a ride :) and I think we all gained much from it...I know I sure did!!

4. I gained
very much. That sounds funny but it is true. I loved his book, it was given to me as a birthday present last year. I have found someone who can express the things I am unable to and someone who encourages the best from all of us. Will he ever get into the office of President? Who knows but he is certainly worth working for and encouraging. I look forward to this group.

11. I love Dennis...
Although I campaigned in the primaries for Wes Clark, by the time VA came to pass (2/10) it looked like Clark would have a hard time pulling it off. I seriously thought about voting my conscience and going with Dennis.

Looking forward to living in OH soon and campaigning and voting for Dennis if he runs for statewide office...

124. He brought me back, too.
And he's one of the few who can keep me... I will almost always vote for the most progressive candidate, regardless of political affiliation. The dems need to come back to the left and continuing to vote for whoever they throw out for the general election isn't helping anybody... I voted for Kerry out of party loyalty and look where that got us... The man gave up the presidency without a fight.

GO DK!!

13. I've always respected Dennis
and don't feel he got a fair shake from the MSM (not that that's a news bulletin to anyone) during the primaries.

I had the honor of seeing Dennis (along with Dean and Granny D) in Boston at the Progressive Democratic Caucus. Man, oh man, what a speaker! He brought the crowd to its feet several times. The great thing about him is that he is so passionate when he speaks. It was a good way to end the afternoon after hearing Gore speak that morning at breakfast.

If I hadn't checked on "groups" by accident, I probably never would have noticed all those new groups.

I'm delighted to "meet up" with a great group of friends again, and I'm eager to follow Dennis at work.

I have a book sitting on the shelf directly above my monitor; a collection of DK quotes taken from talks, writings, & interviews.

Here's a pick for all my fellow DK supporters:

:loveya: :grouphug: :hi:

I have seen groups of people overcome incredible odds as they become aware that they are participating in a cause beyond self.

25. I was an early Dean supporter and then supported Dennis after...
Dean dropped out. I ended up voting for Dennis in our May primary.

Dennis was resolute in his opposition to the war in Iraq and his support of gay rights, including same sex marriage. It is no accident that most primary voters said that although they voted for the "Electable One" they agreed with Dennis on the issues.

Our issues are Dennis's issues, and Dennis's issues are our issues!

32. You're DEFINATELY not alone!
The last Dem I voted for before this year was Clinton in 1992. I voted Green in both 1996 and 2000, and probably would have done so again had Dennis not made the case for Kerry to me and other 'disaffected' dems.

Now, I'm active in the party again, after a fourteen-year absence. And after this year's defeat, more people are seeing that maybe we were right after all. We NEED strong Dem leaders, who are not afraid to be Dems, who stand up for our issues and have a VISION for a better world, not just better management of the disaster.

:hi: and welcome to DU!

Still a diehard DK supporter, and always will be!

FYI, if you've not heard about Progressive Democrats of America, I urge you to check it out. It was co-founded by Kevin Spiedel, who was a field director for Dennis during the primaries. www.pdamerica.org

In my home state of MN, our MN4DK group has effectively transformed into the MN DFL Progressive Caucus, which is affiliated with the PDA. We're still fighting for progressive causes and issues, and were a big factor in some stunning Democratic victories in MN this year.

Glad to see this group here. Here's hoping that Dennis will play a factor in 2006 and 2008, in any way he chooses!

40. DK is a good man.
He wasn't afraid to be a liberal. Although Clark was my candidate, I'd always respected DK for not being afraid to be known as a liberal. He was the only one to the left of Clark, and in my book, being liberal is not a sin, but a virtue. Most of my interactions with DK supporters have been positive, and I wanted to drop by and say hi.

DK's voice deserves to be heard, and I hope he can increase his influence in congress.

61. Best. Campaing. EVER.
And I say that as somebody who busted his collegiate @$$ on Paul Wellstone's first campaign in 1990. Dennis and Paul have a lot in common, and were friends, but IMHO Dennis preaches a much more transformative brand of politics-- one that is not only political, but personal, too.

Like Paul, Dennis is truly an inspiration: from his humble upbringing in Cleveland, to his term as the "Boy Mayor" who stood up to giant corporations, to his unceasing work as chair of the House Progressive Caucus and outspoken progressive voice in congress for the last eight years.

If only all our politicians were as bold, and honest...

I cannnot believe that I only JUST NOW discovered all these groups exist! And the groups have actually been around for a couple of months. :dunce: DU is becoming a BIG place with many nooks and crannys to explore.

My head has been very caught up in the fraud and recount issues and puzzling over the enigma that is Kerry .......

Anyway, GREETINGS to all! :hi: :loveya: It will be nice to have a spot to sort of escape to when other boards are moving fast and furiously.

I did not know about Kanary. I missed her, thought maybe she had changed her name.

I supported Dennis in the primaries because, like everybody else here, he is the Democrat that best represents my interests. What ever happened to voting for the candidate that best reflects your ideas and views?

I'm really happy to find this group. Gives me a reason to come back more often.

70. Oregon Kucitizen no longer with us
http://www.mailtribune.com/archive/2005/0113/local/stories/08local.htm

An actress who co-founded the improvisational comedy troupe The Hamazons, McGowan left JPR last year to focus on political theater. She traveled around the West, performing a play titled "It’s Never Too Late To Save The World!," in which she was rudely awakened by a radio announcer broadcasting an "End of the World Alert."

"She was an activist who believed in freedom and that every person can make a big difference in the world," said Colleen Pyke, who worked with McGowan at JPR and acted alongside her in an earlier version of the play titled "Rude Awakening."

Also in 2004, McGowan was selected as a convention delegate for Dennis Kucinich, which led her to Boston in July for the Democratic National Convention.

About a month before the convention, McGowan underwent reconstructive surgery on her face following an assault in which a 22-year-old Southern Oregon University student punched her as she walked her bicycle home early one morning.

Ashland resident Dennis Mead-Shikaly said that instead of becoming outraged after the assault, the incident prompted McGowan to organize a community effort to educate young men about the consequences of their behavior, and advocated therapy for people accused of violent crimes.

I helped start a Barbara Boxer Supporters Group. I hope you don't hold that against me. There's a lot of love to go around for true progressives.

Edited on Sat Jul-28-07 10:18 AM by Seabiscuit
Edwards' comment about impeachment to that woman who raised the impeachment question that CNN refused to use in the recent debates was the last straw for me.

The only thing preventing me in the past from being a DK supporter/contributor has been all the talk about his "unelectability", his poor performance in the polls and relative lack of campaign funds.

By now I don't care about any of that. I'm going to support DK from now on purely out of principle. He needs people like us - and today I'm contributing $2,300 to his campaign.

N.B.: In 2003-2004 I was a "Deaniac".

116. Dennis is the *only* candidate who covers *all* the bases.
I worked for him in 2004, will do so again.

I don't care that he's short, that he's one of those "weird" vegans, that he's in favor of peace when everyone else running has supported war, that he "robbed the cradle" (pretty cheeky of him, eh, and stealing a *redhead* to boot), that he's kooky enough to talk about love as a practical and guiding force in the Universe, that he doesn't buy his suits from an expensive English tailor (Elizabeth might change that), and for all those reasons that he *can't win*!

With a loser like Dennis, who needs winners? :)

When my daughter and I heard him speak for the first time, here in Santa Fe, he first sang to us, then started out with..."Courage, America." I still tear up over the memory!

Dennis is a force to be reckoned with in this world. If he isn't ever President (not saying he can't be), he'll have a major role in international relations -- maybe with the U.N. -- maybe with his own peace institute. He is years, maybe centuries, ahead of his time. I think he could have elected not to return this time, but took on the mantle of misunderstood prophet in his own land out of his deep and abiding love for humanity.

And so it is.

He is the only candidate that meets all the criteria I have for determining who would make a good president. He speaks the truth, he is clearly the most knowlegable of all the current contenders, and he genuinely cares about becoming the president in order to make the US a decent place to live once again. I loved that he had the entire three hours, since people can only learn so much from a 30-sec. response in a debate or via sound bytes. He absolutely is one of a kind, hasn't been afraid to speak out since the anticipated war in 2003, despite being reviled as "unpatriotic." It was his early opposition to the war and his refusal to back down on any of his beliefs that convinced me. Dennis is the best!:patriot:

141. President Kucinich
has my full support. I've been talking about him with friends, including Republicans, and have been getting a very favorable response. It's like EVERYONE is looking for someone willing to stand up and defend the Constitution against the corporate interests.

142. We are so lucky to have Kucinich speak for our party.
Intelligent, sane, compassionate, and not afraid to speak the truth. What more can you ask for!?!
Thank you Dennis, and thanks to all the others who are standing by him. He's fantastic!
