Kucinich runs again
Who knew? Count me as floored. It's great having a candidate head and shoulders above the rest.

Kucinich runs again

By Aaron Blake

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) announced Monday that he will make his second run for president in 2008, citing the need to bring a voice for ending the war in Iraq into the Democratic debate.

Kucinich, who also ran in 2004, pointed to Democratic leaders’ support for the recent $70 billion appropriation for the war and the projected $160 billion appropriation that will be handled by the next Congress.

“Democrats were swept into power on Nov. 7 because of widespread voter discontent with the war in Iraq,” Kucinich said. “Instead of heeding those concerns and responding with a strong and immediate change in policies and direction, the Democratic congressional leadership seems inclined to continue funding the perpetuation of the war.”

Kucinich will make his candidacy official on Tuesday at Cleveland City Hall.

He garnered 1 to 2 percent in most early states in 2004, going on to take 16 percent in Maine, 17 percent in Minnesota and 26 percent in Hawaii and Alaska.
