http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=2066786&mesg_id=2066786Someone posted a thread of DU three years ago. It was fascinating and shows that annoying as things can be now, you can't overstate how much better DU is now than then. I was astonished at the intensity of the S&B threads - am amazed at BLM's persistance. DU deserved its bad reputation then - people are far better at linking to real sources now. I don't know if the difference was caused by Kerry's campaign itself or us, but there has been a major improvement. (Now the norm is that he is a good decent man and good (or excellent) Senator, but (and each has his own version of "but"). Very recently, one person - who said they didn't want Kerry to run again - said the Kerry fans had convinced her/him that he was an excellent man and Senator, so we've done something.
- Now, there are annoying outbreaks, but then there were whole threads where BLM had very few allies, where Kerry's family was described as extraordinarilly wealthy and as the founders of S&B and Nazi financeers. (They accuse Kerry of helping Mueller cover things up.) (It also was interesting seeing some current antagonists then. (I feel foolish that I patiently explained the norm on conceding to one yesterday - she irrationally hated Kerry then.) (See first thread)
-There's a thread on Gore choosing Lieberman - near the top - with some remarkable quotes. (Proving it took a lot before Democrats walked away from him.) The comments on Gore are interesting in light of his current absolution.
- In the thread on 9 definate candidates - Kerry gets 3 percent of the vote. The Clark people are as certain then as they are now.
Warning: It can be a time sink!
