That is going to be some speech! I'm pumped and I am not even going. I will be tuned in waiting for the live blog though. I can hardly wait. Good luck to our bloggers and a safe trip to those having to do some traveling to get there.
:kick: :woohoo:

We will do out best to say something worth the reading of it. (It is so much easier when you are talking about someone who genuinely has something to say, something worthwhile to listen to and think about.) I think, at last count, there will be about 10-12 people there who have connections and ties, albeit tenuous ones, to this group. That is a really good count. (Plus my brother, my sister-in-law and nephew are coming in to see it and I am so happy about that. I did an outreach. Goodie, goodie for me!)

BTW, this is where the good and true Senator from Massachusetts is tonight, pre-speech: http://www.berkshirebrigades.org/ Go to this site, even if just for a second. This is a grassroots campaign site that did a lot of good work in '04 for Democrats in general and Sen. Kerry in particular. I am thrilled that he is going to this event. I hope he goes to events to support good Democrats like this in every state he can reach. This is just wonderful.

*09/08/2006 Senator John Kerry to Keynote Berkshire Brigades' Rally*

Crowne Plaza Hotel, Pittsfield, MA
Senator John Kerry to Keynote Berkshire Brigades' Candidates Rally in Pittsfield. Just 11 days before the state primarly election, Senator John Kerry will rally statewide and local candidates in the newly redecorated Grand Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza in Pittsfield. Tickets for the rally are $25.

18. OMG, Tela's group!!
That is so awesome, she was a stupendous worker, always focused, always had great ideas for letters and rallies and such. Just a bundle of energy and wisdom. I'm really excited for her, she's going to be thrilled.

2. BTW, the e-mail from MassDem Dispatch that had this news in it
also had a great funny story. (The MassDemDispatch tells me all about the events going on near me that involve Democrats, both local and statewide. Sens. Kennedy and Kerry are 'local and statewide' in many respects. They are 'our guys' in DC but also play an important role at home in setting the terms of debate.)

Presidency To Be Outsourced to India (AP) August 15, 2006

Congress today announced that the office of President of the United States of America will be outsourced to India as of August 31, 2006. The move is being made to save the President's $500,000 yearly salary and also a record $521 trillion in deficit expenditures and related overhead the office has incurred during the last five years.

"We believe this is a wise move financially. The cost savings should be significant," stated Congressman Thomas Reynolds (R-WA). Reynolds, with the aid of the Government Accounting Office, has studied outsourcing of American jobs extensively. "We cannot expect to remain competitive on the world stage with the current level of cash outlay," Reynolds noted.

Mr. Bush was informed by email this morning of his termination. Preparations for the job move have been underway for sometime. Gurvinder Singh of Indus Teleservices, Mumbai, India will be assuming the office of President as of September 1, 2006.

Mr. Singh was born in the United States while his Indian parents were vacationing at Niagara Falls, thus making him eligible for the position. He will receive a salary of $320 (USD) a month but with no health coverage or other benefits. It is believed that Mr. Singh will be able to handle his job responsibilities without a support staff. Due to the time difference between the U.S. and India, he will be working primarily at night when few offices of the U.S. Government will be open.

"Working nights will allow me to keep my day job at the Dell Computer Call Center," stated Mr. Singh in an exclusive interview. "I am excited about this position. I always hoped I would be President."

A Congressional spokesperson noted that while Mr. Singh may not be fully aware of all the issues involved in the office of President, this should not be a problem because Bush was not familiar with the issues either.

Mr. Singh will rely upon a script tree that will enable him to respond effectively to most topics of concern. Using these canned responses, he can address common concerns without having to understand the underlying issues at all. "We know these scripting tools work," stated the spokesperson. "President Bush has used them successfully for years."

Bush will receive health coverage, expenses, and salary until his final day of employment. Following a two week waiting period, he will be eligible for $140 a week unemployment for 13 weeks. Unfortunately he will not be eligible for Medicaid, as his unemployment benefits will exceed the allowed limit. Mr. Bush has been provided the outplacement services of Manpower, Inc. to help him write a resume and prepare for his upcoming job transition. According to Manpower, Mr. Bush may have difficulties in securing a new position due to limited practical work experience. A greeter position at Wal-Mart was suggested due to Bush's extensive experience shaking hands and his goofy smile.

Thanks Katie for that one.

5. Hey DD: Sen. Kerry is in NH on Sunday, stumping for a State Sen
John Kerry to Stump for State Senate Candidate in New Hampshire

John Kerry will travel to Keene, NH on Sunday, September 10, 2006 to stump for State Senate candidate Molly Kelly in District 10. Kerry will headline a free event with supporters at the home of Molly Kelly followed by door-to-door canvassing throughout Keene.

He loves New Hampshire! How would you like to be your typical New Hampshire voter, be watching the Patriots game on Sunday and have the doorbell ring and open it and see John Kerry standing there. I wold flip out. ("Hey Senator, want a beer. Pats are up by 3 right now, can't talk right now. Come on in, we have snacks and pizza in the den. Help yourself.")

Kerry will be at fundraiser for candidates

WATERLOO --- Former presidential candidate U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., will be at a "Pigskin and Politics" fundraiser for three Black Hawk County state Democratic candidates Sept. 16.

The event will be at State Sen. Jeff Danielson's house, 3906 Monterey Drive, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature the Iowa-Iowa State football game and a backyard barbecue. It is a fundraiser for Danielson, State Rep. Bob Kressig (District 19) and candidate Doris Kelley (Iowa House District 20), who also will be there. Bring your own lawn chair.

There is a $20 suggested contribution. The event is free for college students and those younger than 18.

15. Always. I always go with everyone here.
Always. And I am always, always, always asked how things are going with the people we are in touch with here. You matter, your voices matter and your hopes and best wishes are most appreciated. If I get the chance tomorrow and can arrange it, perhaps something a bit more direct on that. (No, not the Senator. Ah, he is rather busy tomorrow giving this speech. But something, maybe, just maybe.)

It is a deep honor to go to this as a representative of this group. I know that Whome and LevensonK feel the same way. We only hope that we can do a good and decent job. I know I kid around and make jokes a lot, but I am deadly serious about this.

I am not alone tomorrow. Every single person on this board is with me and with all the other attendees at this event. Always! We love you good people and quite literally could not do this without you.

:loveya:
