John Kerry tops the Google searches this week!
YAY!

"Media coverage is one of the measures of candidate momentum tracked here on The Next Prez. A quick and objective way to calculate this is with a Google News search on each candidate's name, in parentheses, e.g. "Bill Frist". This captures the number of mainstream print news stories about a particular candidate linked by Google News in the past month. If multiple spellings of a candidate's name are common, the spelling with the most hits is noted in my results. Total Google News hits for the month ended September 11th, 2006:"

The Top 3 Democrats (click the link to see the rest of the numbers):

John Kerry 5,110
Hillary Clinton 3,700
Bill Richardson 2,050
John Edwards 1,820

The Top 3 Republicans

George Pataki 4,310
John McCain 4,120
Mitt Romney 3,420

This is interesting. Kerry topped everyone in Google searches this month, but how often did you see the conventional media mention him? Certainly not nearly 5K times. I doubt if it was even 50. Tell me this isn't deliberate. PEOPLE are interested in KERRY because he's the subject of searches. The media is interested in ignoring him. I wonder why that is?

3. I think this says something about who is the most interesting person.
Who do people want to know more about- good or bad. That he tops even McCain and Clinton is important. Thank you for this info.

4. But what of nonpoliticians?
In the run up to the 2004 election I used to look at such numbers, but for all searches. It was always interesting to see when Kerry could move ahead of Britney Spears.

Incidentally, the top search item which is bringing people to Liberal Values is Trump firing Caroline (with Path to 9/11 quickly moving up on it).

5. Part of it must be Road to the White House
Notice how Pataki is #1 for Republicans, curious indeed. He appeared on RTTWH on Sunday night, too. But Kerry beat Pataki, so he seemed to benefit more.
