Yes, I snuck back in to GD for a sec. No surprise to me that Clark is winning btw. My opinion of Clark is that he should run for office in Arkansas so he gets an idea directly how government works. Kerry of those three understands how government works the most, that and the fact I like and admire him the most made him an easy vote tehre.

Clark was only on the national scene a little while. Now sure, he is a smart, capable man, and I would have enjoyed seeing him as part of a Kerry administration. But alone, he just doesn't have the political strength it takes.

Maybe they like going for an underdog or something like that. It's a puzzle. At least I can understand the Deaniacs, because he was running for quite some time, and had a huge bubble of success before Kerry trumped him.

At least there don't appear to be too many Hillaryites. Nothing against her personally, but I really don't think she could win the presidency, and would be much more influential establishing herself as a strong senator.

it really shows how DU does not represent the Democratic Party as a whole.

scientific polls of all democrats nationwide show Hillary with the most support. she would be tough to beat in the primary but probably not impossible depending on who runs against her and how the campaigns go.

17. Bill Clinton

the Clinton's are very popular among most Democrats even if not on DU.i think Bill Clinton being the only Democratic President we have had in a long time has a lot to do with it.

she kind of helped Kerry during the primaries in a way because she hosted an event which rarely gets much turn out but because of her there was a huge turnout. and Kerry gave the best speech of all the candidates.because of the large audience turnout a lot of people were able to see and hear him and take interest in him. it was kind of a turning point in the campaign for him. while polls may not have always showed it there was a positive atmosphere for him and the crowds were getting bigger for his events.

18. I think that's very surfacey support

I know that she has 'money guys.' (Money is still the mother's milk of politics. You are dead in the water without money. I am as liberally pure as the next guy or gal, but I know reality and you need good solid money guys in order to even consider running.) This is a plus.

But she is toting some serious baggage. The Rethugs would absolutely kill her. I know that she is a 'tough broad' but, wow, that would be a truly nasty general election. (Yeah, could be worse than last years and that was disgusting.) She would have to seriously re-brand. On the other hand, it could be a great primary, there would be tons of things to talk about and try to differentiate yourself over. Hmm, Kerry, Edwards, Clinton, maybe Clark. Plus the new folks like Feingold and maybe a few current Governors. That would be a fun race. (Well, I like the idea of it. As someone famous once said, "Bring it on!")

19. i really don't think she will run

she has a certain power in not saying she wont run though because the media speculation keeps her in the news and allows her to be influential in some ways and gives attention to things she may be interested in.

she knows how bad things where when Bill ran for President and she is smart enough to know it will be far worse if she ran. while i know she would like to BE President i also feel she doesn't think the negative parts of running is worth the run.

if she were to run and become the Democratic Nominee i do think she would do better than many think and could win. but it would be a VERY VERY nasty campaign. much worse than the negative campaign against Kerry.

I couldn't figure out how they got so negative over Kerry when, to me at least, he really had NO baggage other than the bad feelings some people still had over his anti-Vietnam war stance. I think Hillary is just too divisive. Even the democrats in my own family are divided over her ... some have even said they'd vote third party rather than vote for Hillary. This can't be good for our hopes of gaining back the White House.

Oh, well, 2008 is a long ways away -- who would have thought we'd be where we are today in January 2001? Sad.......

Clark doesn't have the experience of the office. But, don't hate on Clark he's a good Dem. I love Hillary, but she's a WOMAN in this is a sexist country. It's not a sexist party, she could carry the nomination, but this country is still so behind.

i read a poll showed that Teresa Heinz Kerry had favorable ratings only in the 30's while Laura Bush had over 70's. so there were a lot of Democrats who preferred Laura Bush over Teresa.

it's a real shame. especially since Teresa is really a very kind and caring person while Laura Bush had a mother of a dead soldier arrested.

I feel the same way about Clark, the guy needs experience, don't people know that only a few guys have been elected or even ran with no government experience over the years. What amused me was Clark people dissing Edwards saying hes not experienced enough, pardon me but your guy had no experience.
