The ad attempts to create the impression that the Senate campaign of state Treasurer Bob Casey Jr. is funded by contributions from criminals.

Never mind that Mr. Santorum was a cheerleader, at least, for the K Street Project, which helped to create a corrupt lobbying system that was exploited by certified felon Jack Abramoff.

All but one of the contributions targeted by the ad were made to Casey campaigns when he was running for other offices, at which time none of the contributors were known to be under investigation for anything. Since then, only one of the people referenced by the campaign ad has been convicted of a crime. And one of the referenced contributors is dead.

So misleading is this ad that two of the people referenced, who made contributions to previous Casey campaigns, have not contributed to the Casey Senate campaign but have contributed to Mr. Santorum.

NEW YORK Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), in a bruising race for re-election, slammed a Pennsylvania newspaper -- literally -- this weekend.

The Patriot-News of Harrisburg, Pa., report that Santorum, who trails Democrat Robert Casey in most polls, referred to his "rocky relations with the press" as he moved from room to room to attend regional caucuses earlier at a GOP state committee meeting in a hotel in East Pennsboro.

Later he refused to talk when a Patriot-News reporter, Brett Lieberman, approached with a question about Iran -- and again complained about what he called biased coverage.

"I have to raise tens of millions of dollars because of the junk you feed the people of Pennsylvania," he said, according to the paper. It added that he "then used an expletive to describe the coverage and slammed down a newspaper."

He called the office to talk to his volunteers and discussed the ad. Said now we know exactly where they're coming from, which is good.

press unfairly slammed and reported on Senator Kerry, he was more classy about how he handled it. Want to bet when this jerk loses, he refused to concede and wish Casey well?
