Needing to vent again

I like Obama, but it really makes me angry that these same people who are pushing him for 08 bitched and moaned about Kerry "not feeling comfortable" with AA voters and not having a diverse ticket. (Go Figure:-( ). I remember Tavis saying the same thing a day after the election. I am all for a diverse ticket, but aren't they underestimating the power of the RW media smear machine?

Illinois Sen. Barack Obama has been making rounds lately like a candidate, but despite his widespread popularity and innate connection with Americans of all stripes, he says he’s not running for president in 2008.

Political observers say the man who ignited the crowd as a keynote speaker at the 2004 Democratic Convention would add power to the ticket in the party’s number-two spot for 2008.

“Hillary (Rodham Clinton) is in first place,” said Ronald Walters director of the African American Leadership Institute. “If you have a ticket with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, you have a very powerful ticket,” Walters told BlackAmericaWeb.com.

David Bositis, senior analyst at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, said “Barack Obama has already shown that he has star power.”

As a vice presidential running mate, the 44-year-old Harvard graduate would bring “youth, enthusiasm and a strong moral sense,” to the Democratic ticket, Bositis told BlackAmericaWeb.com.

Earlier this month, Obama, his wife Michelle and their young daughters took a trip to Kenya, the native country of Obama’s father. People there lined the streets chanting his name. Little children and adults greeted him with hugs, handshakes and tears.

1. We should be putting the best people on our tickets.

This shouldn't be about race, or sex. If Obama is ready (I don't personally think so) then he should be considered. If Hillary is the best candidate,(again, I don't think so) then she should be considered for the ticket. I have never felt forcing someone on people, based on their ethnic background or their gender, is a way to win the trust or the vote of the people.

2. I actually worry about Sen. Obama

Because he has so much on his shoulders. He is the only AA Senator and he carries a lot of hopes on his back. I truly hope that he isn't being pushed for something that he isn't ready for yet because I really think he is a wonderful man and could really bring some sparkle to a national ticket someday. He is a great speaker and he inspires people and I could see myself voting for him in a primary some day. But geez, he has only been a Senator for not quite two years. That seems to be a pretty thin resume to me, right now.

(Any chance he would ever run for Gov of IL some day, broaden that resume some?)

Bill Clinton closed the books on all the criminal activities of Poppy Bush - and swept CIA drugrunning under the carpet.

They don't know that 9-11 and this Iraq war happened BECAUSE those books were closed by Clinton. They don't know and people are too scared to tell Tavis he doesn't "get it" because he obviously never read much about the real deals going on then.

Buy people for what they know and sell them for what they THINK they know - make a hefty profit.

And you can tell every one of them that they need to START reading the National Security Archives for a change and see if it squares with Clinton's explanations of why he wanted Poppy to have a "peaceful retirement" as he covered up all his crimes.

They depend on the MSM for soundbytes, which shapes their perception of a candidate. No matter how many times you tell people the facts, it falls on deaf ears.

he is really capable of and trust his experience and skills, not because he can charm them into it. That should be embarrassing for ANY real leader.

11. They would not be getting Bill, they would be getting Hillary.

Hillary would be the person they would be staring across at the screen. It would be Hillary's shrill voice they would have to listen to delivering speeches. It would be her ideas and recommendations that would matter. He whole time in office we would get the tabloid stories about Bill's cheating, their fights, their shady deals. Is this what they want again? Clinton ushered in a time of less respect for the position of President. He brought most of it on himself. You know,any Democrat can give them what Clinton did, without all the scandal. I for one think we can not go backwards, we need to go forward. IMO, another Clinton presidency will be a disaster and might ruin all the goodwill he has now.

12. Obama has a lot of potential and would make a great candidate

but i think it would have to be in the future when he gets a bit more experience. even now in the committee hearings you can see his lack of experience and knowledge on some things.

if he ran too soon with the high expectations i think some might feel let down.

and if we are talking about race, with Harold Ford doing well in the polls and likely to win the Senate election you know he will start considering the Presidential election. an african american winning statewide in a conservative southern state. that would be a HUGE thing. he can say he appeals to the base with his minority background and understanding of issues important to minorities while having proven he can win in a southern state. he can also claim to have more experience than Obama from his years in the House.

but i think it's all talk for now. i don't think they will run anytime soon. there are already many black and other minority members of congress who already have the experience to run right now such as John Lewis amd John Conyers who could easily beat Obama and Ford in a debate right now.

i notice the media isn't reporting it either. Republicans are going to play dirty tricks there, especially in the minority communities. they do things like tell democrats the wrong date for voting. they have them register to vote and then throw out the registrations. so people htink they have signed up and will get their ballot but never do.
