Yeah - I know, I haven't posted in a long time & the first thing I post is negative.

BUT!
First of all, Kerry ignored AZ in 2004. We were so close.
I remember how sick I felt when I heard on AAR that he was not going to give Az any attention. Iwas mad, but I forgave him. I chalked it up to bad advice from his campaign.

Now we have several key races in Az. Pederson is closing in on Kyl. Today Wes Clark is coming to campaign for Pederson. Pres Clinton campaigned for Pederson. (I am going to try to go see Clark, depending on what is going on at the hospital). Another hugh! race in Az is for the House. In Tempe. A definite BLUE city. Mitchell is trying to outseat Hayworth, and has a good chance. Hayworth is more of a nutcase than Kyl.

Kerry has said he was going to endorse both of these candidates. Then today I get email from him and there is nothing about Az. I know Kerry is 'just a Senator' and it's really not his job to raise money for different states. But why is Montana more important than Az???? Phoenix is the 5th largest city.

Maybe 'mad' is not a good word. Maybe 'disappointed' is more appropriate.

I just had to get that off my chest.

What are the polls like in AZ right now. Last I heard Pederson was creeping up and had a chance against Kyl. Is this so?

There is one poll that has him within 5 points.

There is a pretty good ads war going on between the 2 of them.
Unfortunately I get to watch alot of basic tv (not much cable choices in the hosp room) And their ads are on constantly. Kyl takes credit for not having a terrorist attack in our country since 9/11, and every other idiotic thing he voted for. Haha - whatcha going to say now Kyl? He even attacked Pederson for being a liberal democrat, which is so ridiculous. Pederson is a businessman who was the head of the Az Dem party. This is his first attempt in politics. Pederson's ads are about how Kyl has voted against our vets, seniors, environment, healthcare..etc.

Pederson could win with a good kick. I am afraid in this state that Kyl will win just because he is the incumbent.

The repugs in this state will come out to vote because we have a wonderful Govenor, Janet Napolitano that is a gay dem. The repugs hate her because she has vetoed over 100 bills brought to her desk by the repug state senate. And thank g-d for that!
They want her out. But their candidate is pretty weak. Janet was voted as the 5th best Governor by Time, but then again, they voted Kyl as one of the best Senators.

Needless to say, this is a big election for Az.

2. Actually, your disappointment shows how much he means to you

If you hadn't admired him so much, you wouldn't be so mad that he wasn't helping out your candidates (at least not yet).

I, OTOH, am extremely happy with him because he solicited for MY candidate in Virginia -- Jim Webb!! I've been waiting for him to do this, and already submitted my donation.

Anyway, I hope you are well, and I'm sorry he didn't engage in your state.

Allen is definitely self destructing, but Webb needs to continue to stay on message, and our GOTV effort needs to be very vigorous. My hope is that good Republicans simply stay home. I understand if ideologically they can't vote Democratic, but to vote for a racist? That's beyond bad.

I thought he was nuts when he did it because I didn't think Pederson had any chance at all. I don't know what the numbers are in AZ today, but I know the Senate races he targeted are where we're currently most likely to win. He didn't target any money for Ford either and Ford was one of his campaign managers. There's also the possibility that some Dems believe that loser nonsense and don't think he would be helpful, especially considering JK's position on immigration. Every Senate seat is important, we need 6 to take over the Senate and we're very close. I'm sure JK will do whatever it takes to win.

I think you are right about the Dems believing that loser nonsense. It maybe that Kerry was going to be perceive as too liberal for TN, (Just like Gore in 2000) which is what they are painting Ford when he is a conservative Dem.

On edit: It's a competetive race also, but he can't campaingn for everyone.

As much as we'd love him to, Kerry can't campaign for all 33 Dem Senate candidates this year, so he picks a handful of special cases and focuses on them. I know you're disappointed that Pederson isn't one of them, BUT -

In your post you mention Wes Clark and Bill Clinton coming out to campaign for him. They are both very popular and should raise a lot of money and attention for Pederson. To me, your post illustrates how well the Dems are attacking 06 - you've got Kerry and Clark and all these other Dems out busting their ass for candidates, and since they all can't support the same one, they have different candidates they are helping - Clark in AZ, Kerry in MT, etc.

I love seeing our DEMS working together as a team to win!
