The campaign funds
Here's the truth about the campaign funds, if one actually reads the article instead of the shit posted in LBN. I'm sure the misinformation will be posted for the remainder of the week every chance the Kerry bashers get.

The article clearly states it was PRIMARY money that was left over, money that couldn't be used after the end of July. The General Election campaign actually ended up $3.5 million in debt. Let's try to set the record straight. As if the facts ever mattered around here, but still...

1. this is the same crap we went through shortly after the election already
also.

every few minutes someone would post something about how they are outraged at the money left and how they will just never support Kerry and other stupid crap.

even when many people responded on the thread with the facts of that money being from the primary and he couldn't spend it for the campaign after teh convention a bunch of Kerry haters would continue to post attacks on him.

2. this is just one example
People are just so uninformed about things concerning goverment and politics, not just on DU but all over this country. That's why we elect the kind of presidents we do--people are easily swayed because they know so little. Since they know so little about policy and the law, they use a litmus test like abortion or gay rights, something they have thought of at church or in their family situations. So unfortunately for all of us, we get the incompetent leadership that they select.

On DU, people substitute emotional rants for intellectual discourse, because they don't know enough to speak intelligently. Better to just shut up and learn something from others! But no, they see DU as a platform for screaming to the world just how ignorant they are. They aren't much different from people like Rush Limbaugh--short on knowledge, and long on a particular ideological view. :(

3. but some are just looking to bash Kerry
as i'm sure the person who posted the article may have been based on the quotes he posted and the quotes he left out.

i remember during the campaign early on someone posted some article from some leftist type which complained about how Kerry doesn't discuss some issue and a bunch of people came on with the whole dlc and other stupid crap.

i posted another thread which showed Kerry DID discuss the things that article claimed he wouldn't discuss and i didn't get any responses. but the one attacking Kerry kept getting responses.

4. So, he put $4 mil in
the Sen/Pres account. And has the option to transfer $10 mil more. Hmmm. Interesting.

Money, money, money. There was a realtively small amount left over. He gave $40 million to other Dems. STFU to all the K-bashers.

Republicans Top Democrats Financially
By SHARON THEIMER, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The Republican National Committee (news - web sites) has nearly $15 million for the next campaign, the strongest position of any fund-raising committee, while the House's Democratic panel faces $11 million in debts with the next election less than two years away.

The Republican National Committee started the 2005-06 election cycle with nearly $15 million on hand and no debt, according to a year-end campaign finance report filed Monday with the Federal Election Commission (news - web sites). The RNC spent tens of millions of dollars last year helping President Bush (news - web sites) win re-election.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee finished 2004 at the opposite end of the spectrum: $11 million in debts and $1.6 million in the bank. The DCCC tried unsuccessfully to win back a House majority from the GOP last year.
