Your explanation really explains his expression and the way his hand is positioned. I agree - poor, John I've been amazed at how he has publicly had to handle the inaugural and the SOTU - it's got to be hard to try so hard, come so close, care so much and then have to sit there monitored for any expression that people could hold against him.
