Key words of 2008 for the democrats.
I guess we begin to see what are the terms that the Dems will use in 2008 for their primaries:

- Universal Healthcare
- Global warming
- Fair taxes
- Moral authority of the US
and a few other terms.

I sincerely hope that people will give some substance to these terms rather than throwing them in speech and I hope Dems will ask for details rather than fawning because a keyword has been said. I somehow doubt it will be the case, from what I already see.

2. LOL - I think somebody else has used these words before him...

Though I would find useless to enter in a pissing match with some of his supporters!

What gets me crazy is that some people will say that their guy is great only because he said the words, even if they do not know what he has proposed.

8. I actually saw your thread on universal health care
and many comments by someone's supporters - even going so far as to call Kerry asking for comments on what people want in 2007 "copying". I find it amazing that they are oblivious that Edwards is really NOT an activist deep down inside while Kerry very naturally is.

Some of these people seem like they were born yesterday. (In 2004, I got in troouble with Edwards people pointing out that the "concept" of 2 Americas was not new - and mentioned the Kerner report of the late 60s. That certainly wasn't the first. The late 1800s were worse. I've seen the tenement museum in NYC and in other parts of the city, mansions from that time period.

3. I'm going to use your thread, Mass, to whine a little
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/1/2/13948/14017

Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards, targeting a potential Republican rival in 2008, dubbed plans for a short-term U.S. troop increase in Iraq "the McCain doctrine," in an interview aired on Sunday. Sen. John McCain of Arizona, considered likely to be a Republican candidate for president, has been "the most prominent spokesperson for this for some time," Edwards said in an early salvo of the 2008 campaign.

"McCain Doctrine". Considering how much bigger authority Kerry is on Iraq and the Middle East, I'm just mad that Edwards came up with this and it's on every blog. I feel like Edwards is gaining ground every day, and since he doesn't have another job, he has more time (or his staffers) to think up good strategies and phrases like this. This is now his phrase. And it's very, very good.

6. Hey -- put that on the Kos thread. So he didn't coin it.
Wow. We need to get that out there.

5. Only partially sarcastically,
I think the best way to counteract Edwards' ascension (which support may well be very very thin, due to little serious competition at this point) is to encourage everyone to watch all of his speeches. He does not wear well after serious and prolonged viewing.

7. Then again, if this thread of comments
is any indication, Edwards is on a roll.

I really have trouble taking him seriously.

9. It's also a case that the media has at least to some degree
repeated it AND ascribed it to Edwards. Kerry has had some really good phrases that he and his staff came up with - in general though he doesn't get credit for them, possibly because it would mean saying he does get good sound bites. This was good - but it really signifies nothing.

In a funny side note - some on his blog were not happy with his wording "not ready, personally, for gay marriage" . Now, what would the RW do if our favorite said that very ambiguous statement.

10. The LW would be way harder
on the tall guy, too, in my experience.

11. Probably worse than the right
It was funny - I didn't catch it when I saw the interview - but they brought it up on their blog. By the way, the Kerry site is classier and far more logical for finding things. I never found any details on Edwards' issues - which I was looking for.
