(However, there is a teensy part of me that just wants to say 'see, this is how they play, with everybody'. And why I think JK ought to just let these people be frontrunners for a while. Because you know the second he gets in, ALL of this venom is going to be heaped right on his head.)

Most people will react like you to the picture - it's obnoxious. All the negative response goes to him, none to Elizabeth.

Compared to the usual right wing lies which hurt if not disproved, this one doesn't. In fact, on This Week, it looked like she had lost a lot of weight.

7. Ridicule is very effective

It's one of the biggest tools they use to sway that last itsy bit of the vote who tends to go with "the winner". It goes along with that masculine insecurity thing where men are embarrassed to admit they voted for the 'french looking appeaser' or the guy who's married to 'the fat chick'. It all adds up.

It is rude to make fun of someone's looks - but that only reflects badly on the speaker. I have serious problems with the intelligence level of someone who is against a candidate because he or his wife is heavy. The other thing isher looks are her looks - this changes nothing.

The Kerry lies were not only far worse - but for people who didn't know better they actually had to be convinced they were false.

They hit every emotion people have, they start with greed and build from there - whether it's unpatriotic to support Kerry or humiliating to have a fat wife. That's what they do, it all adds up to a whole bunch of people who become too timid to even think about voting for these laughing stocks.

One of the things I always liked about Elizabeth Edwards is the fact that she looked like an ordinary American woman, and she was fine with that.
