Any action seen as denying funding for the military during a war can bring political peril. A vote by Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, against an $87 billion supplemental funding bill for U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan became a central issue in the election. Kerry supported an alternative bill that funded the $87 billion by canceling some of Bush's tax cuts.

1. You mean to tell me something Kerry did was reported correctly and without snark?

Now, can you answer me this, he had troubles with that "87 billion" funding because it appeared he voted to cut off funding, and now he has signed onto Kennedy's bill which cuts off funding for the surge. I know it was ultimately the right thing to do, but can't they used this against him in 08 (if he runs) in a twisted attempt to accuse him of not supporting the troops?
