(OT) Dodd announced on Imus
Dodd is on announcing on Imus at this morning speaking of his experience - he listed Kerry as one of the others. Says he's a fresh face. He going to forgo an exploratory committee says you can't predict this far in advance. Imus is still mad about Lieberman. He said he called all the others to say he was announcing today to avoid blindsiding everyone - he does came across as nice (which he always has). He says they should have the debate and vote on Kennedy's amendment. says people voted for change and leadership on Iraq in 2006. Imus said they don't need "glib trial lawyers with Madison avenue slogans" and mentioned he(Dodd)and Biden brought something to the debate (didn't say Kerry) Imus told him he is still for McCain

1. Still for McCain? Yuck. How dumb can you get?
I like Dodd. He'll add to the race, I think, but I'm not sure what kind of chance he's got. Gee, how many replies would I get if I put up a thread that said "Chris -- don't do it", and wrote a passionate plea to stay out of the race?

2. He'll certainly add an element of maturity,
which will be most welcome. The more grownups the better.

3. Imus is certifiable
He's been pissed about Bush and this war for ages now, so how can he support McCain?? Makes no sense. What was he pissed about Lieberman for? Does he still not get what a putz Lieberman is? Argh.

I'm glad Dodd is running, the more sanity the better.

6. Because Imus is ego centric and he "backed" Lieberman
and Dodd supported the Democrat in the race.

8. What did Dodd tell him?
I couldn't tell by your post whether Imus had finally wised up to Lieberman and was pissed AT Lieberman. No such luck. So he was harping at Dodd about supporting Lamont, good lord. I suppose Dodd had to be considerate of Lieberman, we need him for the majority. Ugh.

12. Sorry - head cold is my ecuse for lack of clarity
Imus is mad that Dodd backed Lamont - because he backed Lieberman. He asked Dodd if Lieberman had forgiven him - Dodd said something like I think so. Imus said he had told Leiberman not to forgive him.

Dodd was jovial and didn't really react to it. (I wonder why he announced on Imus - when Imus has pushed Biden and - even more, McCain.

4. I like Chris Dodd more than many,
I was impressed by his speech on the Torture Bill, and also by his leadership on Bolton. However, I do not know enough about him on other issues to be able to have an informed opinion.

A photo from yesterday in the SFRC showing Kerry and Dodd:

7. He's done pretty good
I think he's finally clear on how bad this administration is. It's possible that the DC Dems have heard so much partisan attacking over the years that they had a hard time recognizing the reality of Bush this time around. That's the most important thing. He voted against the bankruptcy bill, which is interesting considering he's on the banking committee. He seems pretty good on most issues.

11. Oh, ick,
What is the man thinking?!?

I didn't think he had a chance anyway, I was just looking forward to his voice offsetting Hillary's.

How are you? Back home now?
