More ethics crap. (Okay, I am getting pissed off now.)
The Senate killed this amendment by tabling it:

S. Amndt 6 to S. Amdnt 3 to S.1 The Ethics Reform bill: Explanation: to prohibit authorized committees and leadership PACs from employing the spouse or immediate family members of any candidate or Federal office holder connected to the committee.

The honorable Democratic Senators voted NOT to table or kill this reform bill:

Bayh, Cantwell, Feingold, Harkin, Kerry, Landrieu, Mikulski, Nelson (FL), Obama, Tester and Whyden.

Sen. Clinton inserted the following explanation into the Congressional Record to explain her vote for nepotism in Congressional employment practices:

Mrs. CLINTON. Mr. President, yesterday evening I voted to table an amendment that would have prohibited authorized committees and leadership PACs from employing the spouse or immediate family members of any candidate or Federal officeholder connected to the committee. I appreciate the concerns raised by Senator Vitter regarding allegations of abuse in this area, and believe action should be taken when the Senate Rules Committee undertakes comprehensive campaign finance reform later this year. I look forward to working with Chairwoman Feinstein and the rest of my colleagues at that time to deal with the concerns raised by Senator Vitter.

Mrs. Clinton covers her arse on reform. Honest, we'll do it later, out of sight, when we can make sure it means what we want it to mean. Hypocrite. (It's always the money with these people. Always about the money.)

Anyway, Sen. Kerry has consistently voted FOR real ethics reform. I don't know what the other Dems who are voting on this are thinking, but it sure as hell isn't real reform.

2. I think Kerry should lead on the effort for real reform
As you say, he has consistently been for real reform and good government. He has the real credentials going back through his entire career.

6. Where's Webb on this stuff?
And Tester is on board, but not Baucus? That's weird too. I expected better from some of these new people. They're being set up to be taken out and I guess they don't see it coming. *sigh*

8. He was pretty good on not tabling the DeMint amendment though
I'm not very good with Thomas, but Webb voted nay to table just like Kerry:

U.S. Senate Roll Call Votes 110th Congress - 1st Session

as compiled through Senate LIS by the Senate Bill Clerk under the direction of the Secretary of the Senate

Vote Summary

Required For Majority: 1/2 Vote Result: Motion to Table Failed
Amendment Number: S.Amdt. 11 to S.Amdt. 3 to S. 1
Statement of Purpose: To strengthen earmark reform.
Vote Counts: YEAs 46
NAYs 51
Not Voting 3
Vote Summary By Senator Name By Vote Position By Home State

I bolded Republicans who voted Yea and Democrats who voted Nay.

I think the Republicans who voted Yea as being major pork barrel GOPers, and the Democrats who voted Nay as being for ethical government. Repubs who voted Yea may be for ethics OR just playing politics, hard to know. Lot of Dems voted Yea -- pretty disappointing. But we ultimately won the day. This is why we have a two party system; sometimes things work out that wouldn't otherwise.

but I honestly don't know that I could ever vote for this woman. Integrity means something to me, and she has none.
