1. I know about zero about Richardson.
It'll be a long slog for him, since someone like me who's fairly engaged knows very little about him. And, frankly, I'm not in the mood to learn much more. I put him in the same category as Vilsack. I don't want a governor, I want a senator this cycle with foreign policy experience. Or a former VP.

2. Richarson has a lot of foreign policy experience.
Edited on Fri Jan-19-07 05:51 PM by Mass
He has been in the Congress for years and focuses on foreign policy, then was UN ambassador for a while under Clinton, and Secretary of Energy. He is no lightweight.

This said, I do not know where he stands on issues, he seems to have a few scandals behind him, and is fairly unknown.

What is amazing in this race is that there are plenty of people who are qualified to take the lead (Biden, Dodd, Kerry, Richardson, or even Clark) on the foreign policy and military side, (or even Hillary, even if she did not get her experience thru an elected or appointed position), and the media are focusing on the two least qualified people.

4. you took the words right out of my mouth
I agree with every word. Plus, a friend of mine who went to school in New Mexico absolutely loathes Richardson. . .says he's a complete back-slapping hack. No way on Richardson, even for VP. If he weren't from the southwest, there wouldn't even be mention of him.

5. Lots of gossip on this thread. No idea if it's true, but
they're saying Richardson may have "women" issues:

6. yes, that, too
"back-slapping" was in part my euphemism for good-ol'-boy all around. . .like I said, NO WAY.
