Another Subcommittee Chair for Kerry
Science, Technology, and Innovation
John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) Chair

John Ensign (R-Nev.)
Ranking Member

Sorry, but this is a little bit funny (haha). Commerce has renamed this committee. It used to be called: Technology, Innovation, and Competitiveness. OMFG, the Democrats have restored Science to the Senate and given that subcommittee to Sen. Kerry. There is something really right about that.

OMG, can you imagine if we actually had a Senator who believed in science, responsible for Scientific initiatives and bills in the Congress?

4. Question: is it this committee or another one that will deal with
Net Neutrality? If not, what specifically are the hot button issues (and not so hot button but equally important) would he deal with on this subcommittee?

Um, sounds like Senate Democrats respect Kerry a great deal, and all the "Some Democrats", now assured he's not running for prez, can become unleashed and admit he's about the best there is in the Senate.

5. That's great.
A name change may seem like a small step, but we know how committed JK is to giving science its due. This could actually mean great things for the environment.

7. I like this on so many levels
I personally LIKE that they took competitiveness OUT of Science & Technology & INNOVATION - because it's all good in its own right. I am so fucking sick of this money grubbing dog eat dog mentality. If there's any single thing I can point to that has changed in the last 50 years, it's the lack of plain curiosity and desire to know more. Every single thing does not have to be about grabbing $1000 more dollars to buy another piece of junk you're going to throw away in 3 years anyway.

10. Dianne Feinstein has the committee
She is submitting the same language as Rush Holt in the House, and our only hope of getting legislation in this Congress. Holt is actually competing against legislation from that committee's chair, and who has been suspiciously in favor of paperless, plus connected to the EAC.

Not all Dems are responsible in this issue.

He is also one of the few scientists in Congress. (He's a physicist.) On issues like this, he has the right skills in knowing how to investigate vulnerabilities.

11. In 2004, after the election, I was beginning my days of being a
'muckraker'. (I have not mastered that yet!) Anyways, I had been calling both Dems and Repubs about the election fraud. The Republicans sent me on a wild goose chase: Judiciary, Administration, Science and Technology, Government Reform.) They also were talking about how they watched the Conyer's hearings on cspan and that it was a circus.

But...don't take my word on it being that Dept. Call and ask first.
