Another observation/question
I have been reading/hearing a lot of talk about how formidable the 08 field is.

blm posted a question that went unanswered the other day: If Bush was beatable or if the race was supposed to be a "cakewalk" in 04, then why didn't this formidable 08 field (Hillary, Biden, etc.) run then? It seems like they wait until the mess gets worse and think they can clean it up in 60 seconds.

I am with those that have said they are not going to paying attention to the horse race right now, because it feels like there is no democracy anymore, like the media is forcing candidates on us.

1. American presidential politics has become
a game of high-stakes sabotage, bullshit spin, celebrity posturing and gossip.

The result: 3080 dead soldiers, 650,000 dead Iraqis and a field of politician spinning in the wind.

Otherwise, how does the Democratic Party conclude that John Kerry isn't formidable, but the Republicans (with some Dems in the mix) and media actual give Rudy Giuliani credibility?

3. Party is influenced by Clintons early dissing.
Kerry needs to be bold. His natural truthteller self, now not managed by the campaign. I would have trusted him, above anyone else, to make the anti-war case better during the general, in terms of cause and effect, history, over the media spin. Now he can take the reins and push for our exit. I do wish for a better campaign, that was still btter than Clinton's.

I would love to watch a side by side debate of both of them. Clinton grew into the job, of just being wily.

People may buy into Clinton crap, eventually see it as competitive edge, but I hope many more see it as party takeover, when we could have had a bigger win for Democracy in 2004.

Early favorite, creates media wanting to be on the winning side, thereby creating a Hillary win.

I don't see the whole thread, but commenting on the AA issue, from somewhere, Bill Clinton can never say no. Early on, with so many AA out in the cold for so cold, the Cong. Black Caucus were demanding too much. Basically had people stay home in 94, shifting the Congress.

5. The observation/question came from
an excerpt from an article that kerrygoddess posted at her blog:

“People are very excited that this is a fine Democratic field,” says Marge Tabankin, a longtime political activist in Hollywood. “Many people will support several candidates, to keep a healthy debate going. The top candidates are all coming out in the next month, and people will be carefully checking them out, listening to what they have to say.”
