Imus mentioned JK

I don't usually watch Imus, but was flipping through channels and listened because he was talking about the Intrepid Heros building.

He said that JK called him on his cell phone. Imus asked him how he got his personal cell phone number and JK just laughed. The reason he called is because Imus had criticized Teresa the day before, calling her a phoney. JK told Imus that he had to get to know her better--and they are both going to come on the show sometime in connection with the new book. Imus did say that the book was going to be great; his wife is mentioned in it, but he likes it besides that.

He also said that JK is a charming guy--funny, etc--and Mike Barnacle commented that he gets "consultantitis"--referring to how candidates get over-advised about what they should say and how. Which has some truth to it, IMO. I thought that many of JK's campaign speeches had too much crammed into them--trying to hit every talking point--when it would have been better if he had just relaxed, smiled and talked about a few key points in earnest.

If/when anyone hears about a JK appearance on Imus, please let us all know!

1. Imus's comments about both of them were awful last week. I was angry

enough to e-mail him and defend both the Kerry's. Amaizing how Senator Kerry is great now that he isn't running. Talk about phonies, they are the phony ones, not the Kerry's.

2. and the way JK handles Imus is with class.

He humors him along and goes on his show. Maybe he knows that Imus is being a phony or just being his usual stupid self--Imus is pretty irrelevant in the great scheme of things. Maybe--hm--maybe this is Imus's way of getting JK on the show? I hate seeing him insult JK and that's why I stopped watching regularly. Besides the fact that his show is pretty boring to watch on tv. I suppose it's more interesting if you are listening in the car on the way to work.

3. Oh, wow.

That is some serious chivalry.

I'm really glad he did that. It can be kind of funny when JK and Imus are trading barbs, but Imus always takes it too far, and is just plain mean when it comes to THK (who is possibly the least phony person anywhere!) So much of his humor is so sexist, anyway, that I'm glad JK let him know he'd crossed a line.

4. I watch Imus every morning on MSNBC getting ready.

He's not my cup of tea, but he's funny. He backed Santorum and Lieberman in 2006 if that told you anything...

He did vote for Kerry in 2004, and has Kerry on there sometimes. He speaks mostly fondly of Kerry, minus his usual joking here and there.

The comments about THK were totally out of line, and Imus knows nothing about her.

5. Is Imus Bi-Polar or does he just act like it?

One day Kerry is great. Next day Kerry is reprehensible.

I have a friend who loves Imus. . .I don't get the fascination.
