Bush To Cut Cops Progam By 96%
How many people have been listening to * bullshit budget plan.
I just heard on Countdown about the cops program. Kerry will fight that for sure. But I have been listening all day and evertime you turn around the damn reports get worse. This is some of the cuts other than cops I have heard about so far.

1)Food Stamps
2)Housing
3)veterans benefits
4)amtrack
5)Medicare
6)Medicaid
7)Agriculture(not sure what this is I just some kind of cuts in this area as well)

Republicans are coming out like hawks against the middle class and poor that is for sure.

9. Their are families now that are struggling to make ends meet
because the husband or wife is in Iraq and they don't make squat as it is. I guess they have to die in order for the spouse to get the death benefit deal so they can take care of the kids. This shit is so damn crazy. I wonder how many that voted for the lying ass * will be whining now? Oh well they wanted so they got it. It is just hell the sane people of this country have to suffer as well. But the one's that voted for * are going to get what they deserve.

to foment chaos and crime in working class communities.

They already have alot of community cops and firemen who were in the reserves in Iraq already.

Maybe they want to force the rest who lose their jobs to go into the military to make ends meet.

Why would he be trying to kill THIS. And he's tried BEFORE?!

Bush’s wrong-headed crusade to kill the 100,000 COPS program
September 29, 2004, 01:28 PM

Bush will be talking about “foreign affairs and homeland security” on Thursday in the debate… but in a twist of irony, he’ll also be screwing our homeland security on the very same day. On Sept. 30 at midnight, one of the most successful first responder programs in U.S. history, the 100,000 COPS program begun a decade ago, will expire.

For the last three years - 2001, 2002 and 2003 - Bush proposed elimination of the 100,000 COPS program.

In those three years, Bush could not convince Congress to eliminate COPS – but he did succeed cutting it by more than 50%.

The 100,000 COPS program, which peaked at $1.6 billion in funding under Clinton (funding 110,000 officer positions), received $738 million in the first Bush budget, and $572 million in the 2nd Bush budget, and $756 million in the third Bush budget. (That means each year in office, Bush cut the program more than 50%)

5. And with all of these program cuts,
this budget still increases the deficit by 8%! It isn't even digging us out of the hole! The repubs in congress won't even stand for this--just wait. Cause they have to get re-elected sooner or later, and this is insane.

Worst president ever!

10. Things fall apart, the center cannot hold

This is where the Rethugs hae been going for years. Remember Grover Norquist's famous quote that he wanted to get government down to the size where he could drown it in the bathrub. Well, kudos to the Rethugs, they have.

Now they have to face the political consequences of doing so. They have to justify what they are cutting. The President does not have the political support of his own party in Congress to do this. The Rethugs in the House are deserting him en masse on social security. These other cuts will likely be dead on arrival as well. Again, this White House believes that it can ram proposals down the Congress' throats. Not so. They have over-reached at last.

Dems can now run in '06 in oposition to what Rethugs have done to actual social programs that impact the middle class. (The real third rail in politics.) They have doubled the percentage a vet has to pay for meds. They have cut veterans funding. They are cutting the Cops program. And other foolish things. This is unbridled arrogance and stupidity. It is also dead on arrival, as is most of *'s programs. He can run unfair re-elections, but the bastard has NO governing skills. Without 9/11, he would have been a do-nothing Pres in his first term. His own party is running away from him in his second. There is Democratic opportunity here. '06 could just turn out to be a fine year for Democrats.

12. A guy on the morning show seemed to assume that they were all redundant
programs.

So what's redundant about these programs, I'd like to know.

And how can we say "Support the troops" when we don't support the troops.

13. Yes You Are Exactly Right There
And I hope that some of this is DOA. Because to many seniors are already suffering where they can't afford medicines. And there are far to many veterans in this country who don't get the care they need and whats worse is those that are homeless. Now that is pathetic. And every time I see more cuts to veterans and Medicare thats the first thing that comes to mind. And Medicaid I guess * don't think it is bad enough that we already have over 11 million kids uninsured in this country we might as well add more. And the elderly that barely make it not only slap across the face with cuts to Medicare lets make a few more of them homeless as well by cutting housing. Like I said I hope this shit is DOA. The people I just spoke of are the ones who will suffer the worse and it is bullshit.

15. Perkins loans
The Pell Grant is only going to be raised by $500 over 5 years. Perkins loans will be cut completely. Also read that he wants to move some BLM land use money from the state to the federal. I'm sure he'll cut some SBA money too because he's tried that before. And then there's the reports that this isn't even the stuff that's really causing the budget deficits anyway.
