What do you do to counteract the outright lies of far left Counterpunch?

They're f***ing liars!!

counterpunch.org/walsh03022007.html

Blah, blah, Kerry is a criminal but he called for a filibuster in 1971. Well then, he ends with this (for which we know a lot per DU):

He thanks Nate Goldschlag of Veterans for Peace for digging up the quote from John Kerry. When VFP went to occupy Senator Kerry's office after their initial conference call with Kerry, they found a large police detail waiting to repulse them. Fort Kerry has not yet been breached.

Excuse me -- I saw the picture of them looking very happy in his office. What kind of bogus crap is this???? I believe they were allowed to be at the office the first day, but had to go outside the next day. I think that's a pretty fair deal, and I'd like to know if this is all Counterpunch twisting facts or are folks treated very well in Kerry's Boston office trying to turn standard procedure into a scene?

I re-read the post in the Mass. forum. This is obviously Counterpunch propaganda. They're an evil organization, that's all I can say.

1. There isn't anything you can do
They have a severe difference of opinion. Sen. Kerry does not believe, apparently, that it is time to cut off funding for the war. The folks at VFP do. The advocates for the VFP believe that calling names, swearing and acting like babies makes for a better case.

There is a point in politics where the branches separate. Sen. Kerry invited those folks into his office, spoke with them and explained his position. He gave them 25 minutes of his time and the time of his staff. They wanted more. They didn't get it and got nasty about it.

Ah, I think I see where the break is here.

Most Americans are not at the point of cutting off the funding because the funding is too tied into the fate of veterans, veteran's health care and the cost of providing armor, ammunition, supplies and such to active duty troops in a war zone. That is nothing to sneeze at.

5. Well, I did mention that I thought this group was not going to listen anyway, but
Senator Kerry was kind to them and generous with his time, they just don't want to listen to another point of view.
I personally think it is a bad move to cut off funding for the same reasons you mentioned above.

6. I'm not sure this was the whole story anyway
It seems to me that Sen. Kerry's office has had cordial relations with this group in the past, he treated them kindly and gave them some of his precious time to discuss the issue. I have seen no verification that the police were called to disperse anyone and I think this may be a case of people trying to become victims in order to attract others to their cause.

There has been no coverage of this anywhere. In a little fishbowl city like Boston, I tend to think that calling the police on peaceful protesters would have attracted at least some media. Nothing, nada, zip, bupkis.

So, I am taking this with a big grain of salt for now. It's not like we haven't seen people in politics, ah, exaggerate their experience in order to make a point. That may be what is going on here.

3. Oh, thanks -- I just deadenedd the link. I wouldn't have posted it if it
hadn't put that part in there about the VFP being at his office.

Tay -- I don't think the guy posting in DU feels that way. I got the impression that he was pleased with the day, but that they were going to continue the protest outside the next day (he didn't sound angry, just slightly disappointed). I have no other info than what he said.

7. This article does not come from VFP It comes from Counterpunch and, as you can see,
attacks PDA and Kucinich down threads.

I looked to see any information concerning what happened the day after the conference call on the VFP's website. There was nothing yesterday.

We have to be careful not to paint everybody with the same brush. We knew that VFP would not be happy with Kerry's answer, but these slurs do not come from them!
