In defense of Kerry

Your criticism of Sen. John Kerry for questioning ambassadorial nominee Sam Fox about his $50,000 donation to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth completely misses the mark (“Politics turns personal,” March 1).
SBVT was a Karl Rove-inspired hatchet job. Through lies, deceit and dishonesty, SBVT tried to smear Kerry and the swifties who patrolled the Mekong Delta with him. Never in the history of our country has the honorable and courageous service of so many vets been attacked, ridiculed and lied about for cheap, crass political purposes.
Yet you come down four square on the side of the attackers, even to the point of criticizing Kerry for merely asking questions of one of their contributors.

I liked your LTTE too. I am glad they printed this one. It does really say everything - all Kerry did was ask questions.
