OT: Need a few song suggestions for a non-political video
Sorry, it's not a political video but one about our trip to New England last fall. (Well, it's a tiny bit political because we met some Kerrycrats and JK in Manchester, NH.) I promised my friend Vreni to make a music video with the photos and video clips that we took during our vacation. We first visited Boston (thanks to Tay), then went to Cape Cod (visited Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard), then came the Manchester weekend and finally the rest of the second week in New Hampshire where we visited the lakes, Mount Washington etc. Any help with the songs I could take for this video would be appreciated.

Oh, and GV, would it be okay if I include some of your JK Manchester pictures? They are really great and Vreni's aren't as nice as yours.

1. Massachusetts by the BeeGees

Feel I'm goin' back to Massachusetts.
Something's telling me I must go home.
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
The day I left her standing on her own.

Tried to hitch a ride to San Francisco.
Gotta do the things I wanna do.
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
They brought me back to see my way with you.

Talk about the life in Massachusetts.
Speak about the people I have seen.
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts,
And Massachusetts is one place I have seen.

I will remember Massachusetts.
I will remember Massachusetts.
I will remember Massachusetts...

11. That's a cute song!
I haven't listened to it for years but I will definitely take it. Thanks for suggesting this! Now I just need to find something about New Hampshire. LOL

2. Sure.
Just make sure if there are any that include people in this group that you get their approval first (if you plan to make it public).

All I can think of is Weekend in New England by Barry Manilow and Whoever's in New England by Reba Mcentyre. The Reba song is nice, but the lyrics aren't really appropriate.

You've got a Friend - James Taylor
So Far Away - Carol King

Anything by Boston? :-)

I'm not good at selecting music for other people. What genre do you like?

4. Well, now that I have the Carole King CDs out
Been to Canaan is an awesome song.

Green fields and rolling hills
Room enough to do what we will
Sweet dreams of yestertime
Are running through my mind
Of a place I left behind

Been so long, I can't remember when
I've been to Canaan and I want to go back again
Been so long, I'm living till then
'Cause I've been to Canaan and I won't rest until I go back again

Though I'm content with myself
Sometimes I long to be somewhere else
I try to do what I can
But with our day-to-day demands
We all need a promised land

And it's been so long, I can't remember when
I've been to Canaan and I want to go back again
Been so long, I'm living till then
'Cause I've been to Canaan and I won't rest until I go back again

Oh, I want to be there in the wintertime
With a fireplace burning to warm me
And you to hold me when it's stormy

Been so long, I can't remember when
I've been to Canaan and I want to go back again
Been so long, I'm living till then
'Cause I've been to Canaan and I won't rest until I go back again

9. Thanks for the suggestions :-)
I don't really have a special genre; I like all kind of music. Carol King sounds good. I'm downloading several mp3s now because I'll need more than one song. I just have so much video material from the trip.

And I'll only take your JK pictures and not the ones with the Kerrycrats in them. Thanks! I have some Boston pictures with Tay but I suppose she doesn't mind if I use them.

6. There's a free download here
http://www.penceland.com/Dirty_Water.html

It's an mp3, so it should work OK with movie maker.

I'm afraid I don't have that one in my collection.

12. Thanks! I've never heard this one before
It's funny but I'm not so sure if a song about "dirty water" is the right one for a vacation video. LOL Let's see how many songs I need.

18. Wow, great song! Thanks!
I will probably put it up on YouTube but it will take me a while. I have to go through about 70 minutes of video material and over 500 pictures.

20. Merrimack County by Tom Rush
Edited on Mon Mar-12-07 08:01 AM by TayTay
About the New Hampshire Mountains, and going home.

Way up north by the ice bound ocean
I was born, I was born
Way up north in the Merrimack county
That's my home, that's my home
When I was younger and in my schooling
I walked the mountains made of stone
The distance sang about tomorrow
And I did wish I was grown and gone
Well as I grew indeed I rambled
Out along the open road
There I learned the rainbow circle
It's truly said that's a sign of storm
Now I'm old my dreams they wander
Far away in yesterday
I'm going home to the Merrimack county
And find the grass that hides my grave
So let the birds fly down the valley
Let the storms roam on the sea
I was born to the rainbow circle
Stoney mountain that's home to me

From Tom Rush "New Year"
Tubbs Music(BMI)

www.tomrush.com

(Well, that and he wrote "Beam me up Scotty" which I know you would like:

“Beam me up Scotty! Beam me aboard.
I’m just a poor old Trekkie, in a world he can’t afford.
All my life supports have failed,
All the other ships have sailed.
So,

Beam me up Scotty! Beam me up!”)

22. Perfect for the NH part. Thanks, Tay!
Actually we were further up north but this kind of music will match well with Vreni's beautiful pictures. I bought the mp3 through the website. And this Trekkie song is cute. LOL

23. The videos are finally up on YouTube!
It took me a while. And I want to thank you guys again for suggesting these wonderful songs.

- Boston: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1Gw29TBRL8

- Cape Cod: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kIXZABqa7Y

- Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es4bEGNY8tg

- Manchester, NH & Salem, MA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q6kFCvbPkI

- NH White Mountains: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fkx0tIF6SUE

- NH Lakes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=impvz9MEx7g

If you don't want to go through all of them, the Manchester one has JK and Teresa in it (including GV's great pictures!) But if you like the beautiful seascapes and landscapes, go and watch them all. This region is so beautiful! The New Englanders are lucky.

BTW, there are pictures of two of the Kerry houses as well. One was shown to us by Tay, but the second one happened to appear totally accidental in one of my friend's photos as we realized only later.
