Hey, Kerrycrats!
You know the rather cryptic post I made last month asking for a list of Kerry-lovin' blogs? Well, here's part of the reason--we've got an opportunity to host Teresa for a blog tour for her upcoming Women's Health and the Environment conference. I'm hoping that if all goes well, maybe this will be something we'll get to try for some other stuff, too. So check out the letter below--some of you who are already on my list to contact may receive an email copy of this tomorrow, but any of the rest of you are also welcome and invited to participate.

On April 20, 2007, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, fourteen women’s health and environmental experts will present the Women’s Health and The Environment: New Science, New Solutions conference. An annual event in Boston since founder Teresa Heinz Kerry first convened it in 1996, it is now expanding to Teresa’s hometown of Pittsburgh. Sponsored by the Heinz Endowments, as well as Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC and other health and environmental organizations, this one-day conference will explore various environmental topics that impact women’s health.
The speakers range from scientists and doctors to cancer survivor and actress Fran Drescher and radio personality Steve Curwood. Find out more information at the conference website:
http://www.womenshealthpittsburgh.org/index.html.To celebrate and raise awareness of this special event, Mrs. Heinz Kerry has agreed to participate in her first-ever blog tour. From April 9th through the 29th, twenty different blogs will have a chance to conduct an exclusive individual interview with Mrs. Heinz Kerry on any topic relating to the impact of the environment on women’s health.
Participating blogs will have the opportunity to ask 1-3 questions of Mrs. Heinz Kerry and receive a personal response. The blog then must post the interview and a link to the conference website on the scheduled day. A full schedule of the blog tour will be made available and posted at various sites as well, so this is also a chance to increase traffic to your blog.
I’m just a volunteer and fan of Teresa’s. I’m very honored to be allowed to coordinate this tour on her behalf. I hope you will join with me and help raise awareness of the conference and the very important women’s issues under discussion.
If you want to be part of this special tour, please respond to me at the email address below BY MARCH 19, 2007. Include the following information:
1) Your name (won’t be posted, but I like to know who I’m corresponding with)
2) Your blog URL
3) 1-3 questions for Mrs. Heinz Kerry. These MUST pertain to the topic of women’s health and the environment. I will screen all questions and remove any that are irrelevant or considered inappropriate for this tour.
I will let you know which day you are scheduled for and give you any other information you need. I’m also available to answer questions as needed.
There are only 20 slots available, so please respond quickly. I’m looking forward to including your blog on this tour.
Sincerely,
Meredith Efken
