:loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

Ok, I'm sure he wrote to you too. Here it is:

    Dear xxxxx,

I want to talk to you today about the future of the Democratic Party and about a dramatic step that we can take to make our party stronger.

In 2004 you did something amazing. You helped build the largest, most aggressive grassroots effort in history -- and that has fundamentally changed the face of Democratic politics.

Thousands of you have written in about how to continue the fight. I believe the answer is to transform the movement you built into a permanent grassroots presence for the Democratic Party in every state across this nation. If we want to prevail in the 2006 elections, we've got to start mobilizing now.

To help kick-start this, I will make a contribution to support grassroots organizing at the Democratic National Committee in the amount of $1,000,000. Join me with a contribution of your own to show the incoming DNC Chair that you want to support organizing in your own community:

    http://www.democrats.org/BuildTheParty

A new DNC Chair will be elected at the end of this week. Let's make sure that he has everything he needs to start strong. The Democratic Party should have powerful and nimble organizations in every single county and precinct. There's only one way to win - we've got to compete everywhere, all the time. Our party should be a constant positive presence in every American community, and we can be if we tap into the grassroots energy of volunteers.

In 2004, members of the JohnKerry.com email list alone knocked on millions of doors and staffed thousands of phone banks to reach out to voters. Members of our Media Corps had thousands of letters to the editor published; and members of our Phone Corps recruited tens of thousands of new volunteers to work in swing states. I know that for most of you, it was your first time volunteering with a campaign. None of that effort will be wasted as long as we keep building on what we started.

Together, your contribution will show the new DNC Chair that you want to keep working -- and it will show the Republicans that the movement you helped build in 2004 is stronger than ever:

    http://www.democrats.org/BuildTheParty

Contributions will help pay for year-round organizers, ongoing recruitment and training of grassroots leaders, infrastructure such as phone banks and the latest technology to support field work.

The $1,000,000 I am pledging will come out of our campaign committee's funds. This is an investment in the incredible movement that you started last year - a movement that can continue to build our party, advance our values, and elect Democrats.

Thank you again for all you have done and all you will do in the future. Let's go to work and get it done.

    Sincerely,

    John Kerry

I love this! It is all kinds of smart. It holds out the olive branch to the Dean supporters. Asks for money for the Party, not for himself and fondles the feet of all the people who belive grassroots are the future of the Party.

Agian, I love smaht pols. Sigh! Why can't we have leaders like that?

2. I love it too.
I already gave some money through his link. Every time I do that (as with the phone cards fundraiser) I feel like I'm helping him demonstrate his political muscle. Excellent.

4. I'm Like You
When I donate I will go through his links to do it. If I can't give money through him I hold on to it until he puts up something saying he needs us to. I have gotten plenty of letters from others but refuse to give unless it is through Kerry otherwise I will save my money for Kerry later. Just the way I want to do it myself.

5. Great minds
think alike!!

It's going to the same cause, but delivered the way I want it delivered, THROUGH JK.

It's little enough to do to make sure they can't ignore him even if they want to. ;-)

8. I know, it is!
I've been trying at least once a week, using three different email addresses. And I wrote to them a few times using the tech issues page. I just don't get it.

10. I still can't figure out why I got
... the damn Christmas Card. One of the mysteries of life, I guess.

Anyway, The reaction to this on various boards has been positive. That's really good news.

9. That's *weird*.
That list must be in a messed up state, what with all the people supposedly threatening to unsubscribe. I must admit I did some unsubscribing myself, but not for that reason.. I was playing musical email addresses for awhile and ended up with three subscriptions, then took my two Hotmails off and left my domain-name address on it.

How long will this donation form be available, or does anyone know? College started back last month for me and I blew a ton of money on books, supplies and stuff. I can afford it, it isn't that, but I'd prefer to wait until the end of the month when my assistantship check comes in.

11. That should be fine
The click through form should be up for awhile. DNC folks will know where the money came from.

12. Fertilizer
http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/archive.html?blog=/politics/war_room/2005/02/09/kerry/index.html

The race for the DNC chairmanship -- which culminates Saturday in the coronation of Howard Dean -- has been all about the grassroots, at least when it hasn't been about fishing around for someone to protect the establishment, promising money to state party officials or taking down candidates who seem insufficiently liberal.

But yes, the grassroots. There has been a lot of talk about them, and now there's some action. John Kerry has just announced that he'll contribute $1 million from his campaign committee to support grassroots organizing at the DNC.

I had to change my e-mail after the election (the two events were actually unrelated) and now he doesn't know where I am.

At www.johnkerry.com you can sign up to receive emails. I get them at all three of my addresses (which is a bit redundant, but oh well).

18. I didn't know the web site was still up!
I've been (hangs head) well, hibernating for lack of a better word. Or how about... recovering - growing my skin back (I felt like a burn victim after the election - raw, exposed and in continual pain.) I'm not 100% but I'm about 60% better.
