Liveblogging JK at 6:29 am Friday
Edited on Thu Mar-22-07 08:00 PM by globalvillage
Holy moley, that's early. Please join the fun liveblogging at johnkerry.com. IB promises not to be too cranky.

At 6:29am eastern we'll be joined live in our MSNBC studios by Senator John Kerry (D) MA and his wife Teresa Heinz Kerry. They have written a book together that takes a look at the so called 'Green Revolution.' "This Moment On Earth: Today's New Environmentalists and Their Vision for the Future" introduces us to several Americans who are making a difference by leading the way in raising awareness and doing something to preserve our environment. Imus' better half, Deirdre, is one of those profiled for her work in developing and distributing her non-toxic cleaning products. "This Moment on Earth" also offers up a complete guide on where and how everyone can get involved... with a warning from the authors "We don't have much time. We need a national dialogue... and, we need to ask the hard question: What will happen if we do nothing?"

I've been asked to bring the coffee and scones.

We'll see.

I'm interested to see how THK and Imus interact. She should take it easy on him, he's kinda old and crotchety.

Edit to clarify that the liveblog will be at johnkerry.com blog and to eliminate repetitive word. And again to change the pic to a similar one, but without the watermark.

5. This was a great interview
Go see the comments over on johnkerry.com

Imus was nice to them - a little teasing but he really let them speak of the book. Also, Teresa spoke of her feelings on not running - it's worth seeing when they get the video up. It's clear that not running makes life easier and happier for them.

7. I wondered...
... how much, if JK decided not to run, Teresa would be a factor.

Didn't she say, after John Heinz died, that she'd never marry another senator or something like that?

11. Teresa made it clear that she was willing to support him 100%

if he ran. I can't do justice to the answer because a lot was in the phrasing and even the emphasis in the words. The video will likely be up later (it has been on other interviews).

My interpretation was that she was saying very honestly that it took a huge burden off them personally. She said that the campaign would have been grueling. Kerry complimented her support of him - and it was obvious how close they were.

At the Charlie Rose interview at the 92nd Y, Teresa blasted Rose's reading a very negative comment on their 2004 campaign - explaining how they put their ideas and hearts into that campaign - and they really really did. It likely had to really hurt her to see Kerry fighting so hard for what he thought was right and having the RW slime him, her, their families, his crew and anyone ever associated with him. It likely was especially painful that some of the daggers were from Democrats.

I am amazed that these two very good purposeful people subjected themself to the toxic politics of today for the last three years. Tay Tay posted a comment from the JohnKerry.com blog from someone who had seen Peggy Kerry a few days before his announcement and had told her she hoped he ran. From the post, his sister answered something like - she hoped he didn't, that he was such a good man and it's a zoo out there. It's sad that toxic politics deter our best people, but it really may be too much to ask.

It was also clear that they are as committed as ever on the issues - and both have positions to affect change. They wanted Kerry to be President for all the right reasons and he would be an extraordinary one, but it would be very very hard to do and painful - where the alternative of being a powerful philanthopist and a powerful high ranking 5th term Senator with far more time for themselves is essentially theirs for the asking.

10. The live blogger did a great job. I watched then read their posts.
Unfortunately, that is my time to ready for work and besides they all do such a nice job. I wouldn't be able to keep up with the typing and report on what was being said. My typing is bad.

6. You people...
I don't know whether to call this "dedicated" or "obsessed." :P

I couldn't do it. I was too enraged over the meltdown of my team (Tennessee), needed to chat with WEL before going to sleep, and just didn't have the strength to get up that early.

I'll watch the video.

:hi:

12. Missed it this morning, but the video is up!
at johnkerry.com

Also, you can listen to Fineman's nice words about Teresa at:

http://podcast.wfan.com/wfan/338584.mp3

The later stuff in that discussion is also kind of fun, where Imus goes off with his feelings about such notables as Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney...I don't normally listen to him so I hadn't realized he was so, um, frank about them...

They were relaxed, happy. THK was indeed a little sleepy, but still great. JK was sharp, funny , just 100%. Terrific to see
