JK and THK will be on the Today show between 7-7:15 AM ET tomorrow. Bring your coffee and join us for liveblogging.

If you don't make that, you'll have another chance when JK shows up on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart tomorrow night.

See you there.

6. That is a nice excerpt
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 07:38 AM by karynnj
It might have helped had Meridith Viegra read even just this. We need to rate the excerpt up as it's now quite low.

The interview was beyond pathetic - as can be seen by the comments on Johnkerry.com. (For anyone who missed it, Meredith spent a lot of time asking about the Edwards, then asking why Kerry wouldn't talk to "the reporter" when he had prostrate cancer (although the Edwards did exactly what Kerry did - they didn't speak until they knew what was going on and had told their family), then she asked a bizarre question equating as "distractions" EE's cancer and Teresa being outspoken.

Meredith then put out a statistic showing that no one cares about the environment and then asked why they wrote this book. Kerry was then able to speak more about the book - until he was interrupted by a question on Iraq as he tried to get Meredith to let Teresa speak out Toxins/Cancer.

The Iraq question was essentially - You don't have enough votes to get past a Bush veto, so isn't this "political theater" - Meredith said with a sneer. Kerry's answer was wonderful - Saying the war was a mistake and the policy wrong, pointing out that he could only get 13 votes last summer and there were 48 now. He spoke of going to a wake (I think this weekend).

Then Kerry was able to turn it back to Teresa who mentioned some of her work. Teresa seemed a bit shaken still by the earlier attack. I hope people will see the contrast between this good serious woman working on issues that matter and the rude witch doing the interview.

I honestly have never seen anyone treated this rudely on this type of program. It seems especially wrong that Teresa, who has done far more good than most people in her life is treated this way.

12. I thought Meredith was terrible. I expected much better from her.
May as well have been Katie.

4. Ummm. Let's hope tonight's interview with Jon Stewart is better.
JK & THK were fine, but Merideth was very rude and full of right wing questions. She was not at all interested in talking about the book, and pretty much ignored THK. JK kept trying to steer the conversation back to the book, but Merideth had an agenda of her own. Yikes.

5. yeah, it was pretty wretched
The Kerrys did a good job despite the awful , rude, and irrelevant questions, and Meredith's clear lack of interest in the book or the general topic of the environment. Scary to think that many people get all of their news from programs like this. No wonder our country is in suchc trouble.

7. Lousy interview, but that had to be expected.
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 08:57 AM by Mass
It is typical from a Meredith Vierra's interview. Just like the Edwards's interview with Kathie Couric went like expected, this morning interview was pretty much what had to be expected.

The only surprising fact here is that Couric is now part of the 60 Minutes's staff and reached the status of a real reporter.

Great answers to terrible questions.

11. Um, Katie asked questions which I asked last week. They were legitimate.
It was not an interview about policy but about EE's health and their decision to continue the campaign. Her only bad question was the Rush Limbaugh one (sympathy vote), and she gets major demerits for that one, but at least she asked the Edwards about . . . . the Edwards. Seems like Meredith was much worse.

Agreed, however, that Couric is not of 60 Minutes caliber. I'm still smarting from the loss of Ed Bradley, who along with Mike Wallace, was my favorite interviewer.

It is probably going to sink very fast, but I thought Kerry's comment was excellent.

Somebody said he should have gone into attack mode (on her) on the Today show (saying he was too nice), but Miss Viera wouldn't let him. She was really bad.

16. I can't think of anything worse than
Kerry actively attacking her. As bad as she was, he did accomplish a few things, in spite of her. He got a very small amount out about the book - explaining it more than the generic "it's about the environment", he did get across the connection of txoins to diseases like cancer (though to both his and Teresa's credit - neither brought that up when speaking of the Edwards.), and he smashed the RW talking points on Iraq. Most importantly, anyone who watched it saw an inteligent, soft spoken couple - in spite of massive provacation. They did the same thing the Edwards did to Couic's comments.
