Here to catch up and moan and groan
Hi. So far this morning I have gone out for coffee and made it back home without either losing my dog or my wallet.

My wife is still up in Maine - rooming in with her brother. He is over the critical phase and is now in a the skin graft and minor P.T. phase. I expect that she will come home for a night this week and then stay for a total of two more weeks. He just needs a couple more skin grafts and then some more strength to be able to go to rehab. We are 50/50 on thinking about getting him to a rehab closer to home.

I hope everyone else with family illness is doing well.

I got totally wrapped up in making a painting of the beach with Gil last night and sipped my way through a whole bottle of Pinot Noir--->that's a lot for me, so I am feeling sorry for myself. Second cup of coffee and aspirin is doing the trick. I hope to finish the painting tonight or tomorrow AM. If I can get a good photo I will email to anyone who expresses interest.

It was great to See JK and THK on the blogs. Here is how far behind I am . I ordered Moment on Earth from B&N and while at it I ordered Al Gores book and movie Inconvenient Truth because I hadnt gotten around to either of them so far.

I ordered and Italian move and a Czech movie to get me in the mood for an upcoming trip. Watched the Italian movie (Big Deal on Madonna Street--1958) is a total riot.

BTW I am sick of hearing about the Red Sox (prepared for incoming). The Celtics are the new chronic losers that locals are beginning to realize have inherited the mantle of the Boston underdog team.

1. Good to hear from you. I would be interested is seeing th completed painting.
It is also happy news that your brother-in-law is doing so much better. What a shame though, this is such a long road to full recovery. Take care.

3. The > 1 month of batchelorhood is getting a little old.
It was fun for a while. Tomorrow is my 12th anniversary. I am just sitting down to the painting now. I took Gil shopping and indulged him all day.

4. skin grafts?
I'm sorry, I've missed this. What happened?

A month is a long time do be without your SO, true. I stayed with my dad for a month after my mom died. I got to the point where I told my husband to hold the stories until I got home. How many times did she (15 yo) color her hair!!??

Hang on. You'll make it.

5. thanks. My brother in law
had a widespread "flesh-eating bacteria" type infection. Now he is over the danger phase but will need grafts and has a long way to go to get back on his feet. He has Down's sydrome so my wife is their for moral support and to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

6. Oh, okay
Yes, I remember you mentioning something along those lines. The skin grafts are what confused me. Must have been an awful infection. Do you know how he got it?

a routine hernia operation. He is fortunate to have gotten great care in the intensive care. We are fortunate that my wife's friend has been able to help us out a lot. I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
