I discovered this blog this morning, but was happy to see the author pinpoint McCain's memory problems.
We have all seen McCain's interview concerning him alledgedly being approached by Kerry for being his VP and dismissing it out of hand.
Finheaven dived into its archives to find the relevant portions of previous interviews that McCain has probably forgotten.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Thursday that there is “not a shred” of truth to claims that he was close to leaving the Republican Party in 2001. On Sean Hannity’s radio show, McCain said Democrats approached him about leaving the GOP, but denied any suggestion that he engaged in serious discussions to become an Independent.

“Look,” McCain said on the radio show, “I was approached by Democrats, sure. I was approached by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) to run as his running mate in 2004 and I rejected it out of hand.”
McCain Said VP Slot 'Was Never Offered' By Kerry...
July 2004
Quote:
NOW: Well, you’re absolutely right though, it’s going to be fun to see. Now John Kerry, is it true that John Kerry asked you to be his vice president?
McCAIN: Uh, no. No, it was never offered.
SNOW: It was never offered. So, it may have been discussed elliptically, but never flat out request.
McCAIN: Never was an offer, no.
McCain Said 'Obviously, I Would Entertain' Running With Kerry...
April 2004
Quote:
McCain has said he would not run with Kerry, but last month he renewed speculation when he was asked on ABC's "Good Morning America" whether he would consider running with Kerry. He replied, "Obviously, I would entertain it."
Enough said. The only remaining question is whether McCain has a very serious memory problem (in which case who would want to give him responsibility for such important matters), or whether he is a serial flip-flopper.
Another example of memory problems.
We have all seen in the news Senator McCain talking about his stroll in a marketplace outside the GreenZone.
Apparently, McCain forgot a few details, thanksfully reported by the media and by many blogs.
For anybody who missed it, Thinkprogress has the video of NBC News and the conditions in which this pleasant stroll happened.

Sen. John McCain strolled briefly through an open-air market in Baghdad today in an effort to prove that Americans are “not getting the full picture” of what’s going on in Iraq.
NBC’s Nightly News provided further details about McCain’s one-hour guided tour. He was accompanied by “100 American soldiers, with three Blackhawk helicopters, and two Apache gunships overhead.” Still photographs provided by the military to NBC News seemed to show McCain wearing a bulletproof vest during his visit.
...
In a press conference after his Baghdad tour, McCain told a reporter that his visit to the market today was proof that you could indeed “walk freely” in some areas of Baghdad.
Oops, another small detail that McCain forgot.
May be he should go and see a memory specialist. Amnesia is a serious problem.
