My favorite first:

11. One of my favorite bumperstickers:
"Democrats are sexy. Have you ever heard of a nice piece of elephant?"

Have you ever heard of an equivalent Mrs. Hatch to our Mrs. Kerry?

12. I like this one but
it is wistfully sad. It looks like a consolation moment. On the other hand, nice closeup and way better than what the C-Span pics showed with their bad lighting. (Honestly, I thought the event looked like it was being staged in a cave or something.)

Love the closeup, those inverted comma brows, that nice shiny hair and the justaposition that show the height differential. Sweet pic!

13. This is the exact behavior I was talking about:

See, Senators learn how to dominate by literally having the upperhand:
hands on top of McAuliffe and his hands below.

Where does this research come from? Sounds quirky and fun. Kerry is always clapping someone on the back or doing a neck hug or something. I thought it was just 'guys showing affection' type stuff. Enlighten me.

18. i think it could also have to do with him being tall
so rather than have people looking up to him while he looks down he usually just puts his arm around them which makes it more comfortable.

Terry is tall also but i think it's just something he got used to doing with everyone.

33. elshiva was saying
on an earlier thread, that there has been a study of senators' behavior on the floor of the senate. You know they are always touching each other's arms, shoulders, etc. It's weird once you notice it. When JK and JE did it at their first rally together, people made fun--but it was that same "senator" body language they were doing.

Anyway the gist of the study is this: the "dominant" senators tend to put their hands on the "less dominant" senators rather than the other way around. And the higher they place their hands, the more dominant they are. So putting your hand on the other guy's shoulder is very dominant behavior, like our relatives the chimps (no not THAT one!) I find it fascinating--this unspoken communication we do as primates. It's not conscious, but I'm sure it communicates.

(As an aside, my daughter(Psych major) did a research project on abusive relationships, and one telling clue that your boyfriend is "controlling" is if he puts his hand on your shoulder a lot, as if guiding you or reining you in.)

But this is not abusive on the Senate floor. Just fascinating!

41. Great memory, ginny.
Yep. Senate floor manuevering is for all to see on SOTU. I have a theory about the Joe/Dubya embrace. This is how Joe described it: "I offered him my hand and he gave me a manly embrace." So, it was meant to be a handshake, but Dubya overpowered him. This is so obvious: Dubya wants to dominate Senate Dems! Like we didn't know already...just amazing how that desire plays out physically...

Personally, I don't think of JK as dominating personality-wise, just so frikkin' tall and eager to be prez. I liked those pics of him touching JE. I love to see men with other men being affectionate.

45. not dominating in a negative sense
JK is a high-ranking senator, and is even higher now that he almost won the presidency. So it's just natural that he would be dominant. It isn't conscious. He isn't threatening the others, not at all. He's just letting him know he's there.

As for Dubya, I agree, that kiss was over-the-top language that said "I own you!" Haha, I'd love to see him try that on JK! He'd need his security guys to protect him.
I noticed at the debates, they shook hands, and JK looked directly at Bush. But Bush didn't meet his gaze, he kind of looked off to the side. And I think he broke away first. Because he's a child, not a man.

50. Great analysis!
Of course, Dubya didn't go for JK. Come. ON. All that talk about, "I'm gonna keep my foot on John Kerry's neck?" Well, bring it, man. No, course not. Always pick the weakest, smallest link. Joe is a small, conservative, easygoing guy who could get over him. I think it's sick like Dubya taking advantage of him. And after all that anti-gay rhetoric in the SOTU! ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGH!

Yep! JK is one of the most powerful Senators now, it just comes out unconsicously and consciously as with Teddy K's joshing statements.

You cracked me up with that post, elshiva! It is so true! :) LOL

Dominance is more than saying,"I'm better than you", or "I can beat you"; it can also show leadership: it is saying, "You can count on me--I'm here to look out for you". :loveya:

But maybe I can get a vote.

he "honors" the firefighters by cutting their funding

he "honors" the troops by cutting their VA benefits and charging extra fees for getting care.

he "honors" the troops by extending their tours of duty.

next he will "honor" seniors by taking away their social security.

I like Kerry in dark ahm, Navy Blue more than in the Black suit he wore to MTP. (Don't give me grief for that, he looks very handsome in Navy blue.) I love this pic, he looks so happy. Damn, look at the size of those meathooks, gawd awhmighty, does he have big hands. (It don't mean anything, it's just, damn he has big hands.)

Bill Clinton does not look good being so thin. Somehow it diminishes him. I know he needs to watch his weight and all, but the guy is what 6'3" and now he looks like he is shrinking. Kerry is two years older than Clinton, and John looks much younger and more substantial than the Big Dog. Funny that.

I worked last night and again tomorrow, actually. I asked for today off because I have tickets to Illinois games. Today's was actually a very good game, not a rout like our games usually are. Still undefeated, baby. 25-0, 11-0 in the Big Ten. We are undoubtedly the best college basketball team in the nation. It's allll good.

So realistic looking. Try opening the file, zooming in on that hotness and staring into those eyes. Whatever color they are. (Sorry to inject myself into this, but I've taken a very close look at them in three different pictures. IMO they do look green in that one, but they look VERY blue in another one I have, and gray in the large version of my avatar. Could he have colored contacts?)

68. I have settled on blueish-green
You can sue me in libel court if you disagree. I like blue-green. I have hazel-green eyes myself. (Sigh! My eyes were in pre-migraine mode all day and were fizzling about with loss of peripheral vision and increase in fuzzy spots all day. Bad day to comtemplate driving. My eyes betray me sometimes. Sigh!)

70. I've continued this debate "elsewhere."
Shamelessly post-whoring to reach a certain number.

I wish I could post the pool pic in this milestone.

Definitely green in this one. God, I love this picture. Soulful.

69. I've seen him wear glasses before,
but only when reading. Does he wear contacts?

So he has excellent vision then for his age. That's neat.

Quite likely better than mine will be when I'm 61 if I don't take good care of my "problem" (pre-glaucoma) :-(

Edit to get the age right and clarify what the problem is.

80. Or sometimes with mood, for some reason
With my hazel eyed daughter, her eyes are usually a kaleidescope of color, but when she gets angry or intense about something they turn bright green.

hazel seems right since they can look blue or green with some brownish or gray depending on the lights. and that's how his eyes are.

79. ok one more post about eyes, then I'll stop...
The first time I saw him close up (about 5 ft. away) it was outdoors at night with some kind of spotlights lighting the area. Then they looked blue-gray. Goodnight all!

I actually love the girlie aspects of this forum. I really, really do. They stop me from getting to much into posting wonky stuff. All wonk and no play makes TayTay a dull girl.

I was curious enough to go over there, but I don't see anything.
