Novak snarks - and misses
http://www.suntimes.com/output/novak/cst-edt-novak13.html

Kerry keeps his thumb in the pie

    February 13, 2005

    BY ROBERT NOVAK SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST

In the same e-mail to Sen. John Kerry's supporters announcing his presidential campaign's $1 million gift to the Democratic National Committee, Kerry requests new contributions in a way that assures he personally gets the credit for the fund-raising.

The e-mail contains a link to the DNC donor site. When clicked, it shows Kerry is the referrer of funds he requests. The 2004 presidential nominee declares: ''Join me with a contribution of your own to show the incoming DNC chair --former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean -- that you want to support organizing in your community.''

Well, DUH.

1. Interesting that Novak noticed
Wonder if he knew Kerry did the same thing with the phone cards for soldiers. Can't really criticize Kerry for doing good. Sounds almost like he feels that he's warning people that Kerry is not going away. Why is Novak not indicted, fired by his publishers, or in jail for giving out the name of a CIA agent?

2. That is an excellent notion
Novak is protected by the Republican Noise Machine. He is one of their boys. And he is a bastard.

I remember Novak's interviews with Duvalier and with other tyrants in which he basically tried to further the tyrants end of destroying their own people. He is a defender of oppression and anti-human and anti-civil rights. If he is dissing John Kerry, then Kerry must have earned praise from the Deity somehow. The Fallen Angel and his legions only notices you if you have done something to attrack his eye. (Oooh, I have lapsed into religious metaphor, I must really, really hate Novak. Else, I would have just tagged him as ordinary evil, not true religious imagery evil.)

Novak - Another minion of the evil Rethug machine.

12. He is a total
bastard. What I find particularly amusing about this particular bit, though, is its absolute toothlessness. I mean, accusing Kerry of using his political clout? Gosh.

14. ha
Like Kerry shouldn't use his very real political clout, while * goes around parading his assumed "political capital" and that is a-ok. Haha--* will spend it too unwisely and too fast, just like he spent the surplus. Novak is right to be wary of our guy. I think he should start making some retirement plans--if he can stay out of court, that is.

5. Excellent question
Why is Novak not indicted, fired by his publishers, or in jail for giving out the name of a CIA agent?

I'd like to know the answer to that myself. He is a truly vicious, evil man who lacks even the most primitive vestige of a conscience. Just the kind of mouthpiece the *ies like.

7. Why are Judith Miller (gag) and Matthew Cooper being charged with
contempt for not revealing their sources but not Novak?

I've never heard this explained.

10. I think there's a strategy at work
once it is determined that Judith and Matthew are successfully defended against the charge, then by extension Novak will be clear as well. It's not really an explanation for why them and not him, but I think he's being protected, and if those two get cleared he will be clear as well without actually being touched himself.

Good point above though. If this is the sleeze who had something to do with the Plame case, and he's after Kerry for something stupid, then Kerry's doing his job.

I mean really, of course it leads back. It's his email list, it's his invitation, so why shouldn't it be linked to him. The donations we make through DU will be linked to them. Should we accuse DU of grandstanding?

:eyes:

11. I could be
100% wrong about this, but I could swear I heard it rumored somewhere that Novakula might have tattled, thereby earning himself a pass.

But then again, maybe it was a baseless rumor.

3. reminds me of when he wrote an article on Kerry in Vietnam
Edited on Sun Feb-13-05 09:38 PM by JI7
and how he made a huge issue out of the fact that Kerry didn't even know the guy whose life he saved.

and i'm thinking , well isn't that what makes it even more impressive. that he would risk his life to save even those he didn't know.

he seems to take the obvious and try to make it into something horrible.

4. Truly warped
I agree that it's more impressive. How can the people take him seriously when he minimizes the potential sacrifice a 25 year old man with everything to live for took to save a man, whether he knew him or not?

6. At least Jon Stewart
killed Crossfire, so he has one less public arena to operate in.

9. yeah, just like when Kerry raised money during the campaign
people regularly gave through Dean, Clark, DU or some other things.

even we could create our own fundraising link where we get some credit if people send through that link.

it's just so stupid. but i guess Republicans aren't all that up when it comes to internet use for political fundraising and campaigning.

i read an article that a very large majority who used the internet for info , especially on political races voted for Kerry. i think it was probably over 70 percent.

most areas that go for bush and republicans are areas where talk radio is their only source of info and we all know what talk radio is about these days.

13. Good point.
I actually hadn't thought of it that way. Maybe he doesn't realize THAT'S WHAT PEOPLE DO. In a way, that makes it even funnier AND more pathetic.
