George Lakoff's book!

I got it from Amazon and have started it. (Don't Think of an Elephant). I must say it is amazing stuff. It really explains why the repubs think so differently from us, and why our message just doesn't sink in to their minds. Our message just doesn't fit into their concept of political reality. Who else has read it, and what do you think? Is reframing our message what we most need as a party?

1. I want to read that and Jim Wallis' book The Politics of God. I'm

going to take that one with me when my family goes to Florida for a week with my freeper in-laws. Hopefully my Father-in-law will take a peek. He is a religious Catholic - very anti-abortion but I don't know how in the world he can justify the rest of the Republican agenda with the Catholic Church.

I plan on making sure I mention the fact that Bush's budget will throw 300,000 poor kids off food stamps while opening up additional tax advantages for about 300,000 millionaires in the country. I don't think that is a trade Jesus would approve of - moral values HA! How do they sleep at night?

They are rich and he bought a new boat to celebrate Bush's victory. Now that boat to me epitomizes greed and evil. Oh, boy does my Husband regret mentioning that his Father was going to buy a new boat if Bush wins.

Generally, we avoid political discussion like the plague anymore.
