Nobody likes McAuliffe out there so I'm saying this in here
I didn't like Randi Rhodes on Friday and the way she was gleefully waving bye bye to Terry. It was childish, for one thing, and annoying, and not funny. And I don't think Terry completely deserves it. It's like part of the circular firing squad.

Poor guy. He really didn't have a very good look on his face for his ceremony did he? No wonder John went and put his arm around him.

Some days I like Randi. Friday was not one of those days.

I was listening to some progressive station on iTunes last night. Don't know which one, but I liked their comment on circling the wagons and then opening fire as describing the Dem Party. I so often get accused of suppressing criticism when I complain about our attitude here sometimes, but it's the gleefulness that gets me, not that fact that there are criticisms.

1. Oh they just love to hate someone
I wish they would get a life, already. Let's see what they have done for the Democratic Party lately, hmm.

It is too, too easy to sit at home at your keyboard and diss someone who goes out and puts it on the line every day. I think they should save it for our real enemies, who are many and varied.

2. Terry did his job
If they told him to paint his face orange and blue and stick a glitter nose on, he would have done it. They are soon going to find out the chair is the point man for the party, he does what the party asks. And too many still don't understand that there's a huge gap between a NYC Dem and a Butte MT Dem. And Butte Montana has voted Dem in every single Presidential election since there's been a Butte Montana. It's going to be interesting.

I'm staying in the hidey-hole with my hot chocolate and slippers.

3. The DNC is in good shape. It's not productive
for Dems to teat Terry apart. I agree with you about Randi, sometimes she can get on my nerves.

Terry had a rough four years but the DNC is in great financial and technical shape, that is a gift Dean can use to his advantage.

4. Oh, Terry ain't too shabby.
I don't think we can blame him too much for our losses. Please stop scapegoating and get to work, Dems.

5. I'm mystified at the nastiness
that some of the people have had to wards McAuliffe, Kerry and any Senator who happens to vote "wrong" on anything.

At a point where they have won and they now have the DNC head they want, I don't understand the lack of graciousness. It would cost them nothing to take a moment to consider what good was done and long term it would make everyone less angry.

I can't think of any retirement lunch I ever went to where co-workers hadn't taken the time to say what was good about the person leaving. Sitting there you knew it wasn't the unvarnished complete picture of work in that group, but it served a purpose and created closure. If that was needed in trivial leavings (most time to jobs in another part of the corporation), I think it was more necessary in the extremely public and very disappointing aftermath to this election.

I had never gone to DU until the Kerry/Edwards board closed with the election, so I don't know what it was like before. I came because I felt so bad that things hadn't worked out especially as it seemed in the bag in the afternoon and early evening on election day. So I don't know what it was like before.

I'm very surprised at the ease with which some of those people are willing to reject Democratic leaders when they deviate even slightly from their view of the world. I think I've seen them call for the removal of virtually every Democrat (except Boxer, who hasn't done anything "wrong" yet) - where they will get better true Democrats I don't know - but it is stupid.

I wish that they would take the time to realize that all of these Democratic officials probably felt at least as disappointed as they did and try to work productively on making things better rather than stabbing people on their side in the back.
