they spent all the primary campaign doing the same shit to Kerry and even when he became the nominee they kept up that shit. yet Kerry did well among those in the party which shows these people are pretty insignificant and which is probably why they behave the way they do.

Bill Clinton seems to have understood this well. which is why he did the "third way" thing in reaching out to more moderate types. the non progressive left who only want to complain about things not being perfect can not be counted on for support as they are mostly about just ranting about how bad things are. they aren't even really informed about the issues. they kind of remind me of right wingers in their spewing out the same simple lines rather than show they have any true understanding of things.

yeah Clinton wasn't perfect and had some faults but from what i have learned about him and especially in comparison to this administration he was not nearly as bad as many of these non progressive leftists made him out to be. in fact they made it worse since they could have provided true criticism to try to get change on some issues but instead they just ranted about how he was a sell out and other similar things.

that many of these people are a very small minority of the overall population. even within those who lean left of center they are a minority.

but the media usually uses them to try to make it seem they represent the democratic party. so a lot of non partisan independent type voters usually just vote on these perceptions and they vote republican because they are turned off by many of these types on the left.

i don't see them as liberal or progressive either. as you say they are just too full of themselves and refuse to deal with reality which we need to do in order to get true progress.

There's a local pundit - Ira Chernus - he's a professor at one of the universities - he's had a couple of things published at Common Dreams and other sites like that - so he has something of a national rep as an "anti-war" activist - he's on the local public tv shows a lot - he's always a speaker at the anti-war rallies - he is exactly who you're talking about - he is so divisive in his rhetoric - his broad brush attacks on "America" - that he ultimately enables the Republicans.

Idiots like Chernus get set up by the media as representative of liberals - as representative of ME.
