How were the Swift Boat Veterans for "Truth" ads
related to the anti-Dukakis Willie Horton ads? I heard somehow they were related.

1. Financing
The same Texas Mafia that funded the deceitful Willie Horton ads funded the SBVLiar ads.

I hate calling these guys Swifities. The real Swifities were the guys who stood with Kerry, not the liars, cheaters and civilian killers who stood against him. (Gardner and his attempted child-killing in Vietnam, honestly.)

23. Demand Liar Alfred French Step Down NOW!!!
Swiftboat liar Al French wrote an affidavit stating he served with John Kerry and that Kerry lied about his service. He later admitted he never even met Kerry.

He was investigated by the Oregon state bar for this and an extramarital affair in the DA's office. They let him off the hook, but we feel he must step down. Please join our fight and spread the word. Send his boss, DA John Foote an email demanding French step down for commiting a crime in the DA's office. Be sure to copy
Mr French. Below are their email addresses.

alfre@co.clackamas.or.us

PS: Happy writin! This will make you feel good!! :dem: :kick:

2. I think they're being compared in that they both served the same purpose
to smear their respective candidates.

Not to mention that it was the same political machine (the Bush's) who did the smearing.

So the connection is merely that they were the repective torpedoes of each man's candidacy. I think Kerry weathered his a bit better than Dukakis though, bless the poor shrimp's heart.

21. Well, I remember a Bloom County cartoon
Showing Opus trying to decide who to vote for "Wimp or shrimp... wimp or shrimp... wimp or shrimp."

So it stuck in my head. I think they just wanted something to rhyme with wimp. I don't know who painted Bush as a wimp, but I guess Dukakis must be short.

22. Hehe, I remember that cartoon with Opus and he ended
up being slimed with green goo when he pulled the lever.

Poppy is not as wimpy as Dubya, though.

3. Craig Shirley
Did public relations for Stolen Honor movie. Produced the Willie Horton ad, and on the board of United Seniors, the ones who are sliming AARP.

4. Bastards!
Slimy weasel bastards.

I think I'm going to be in a bad mood. Just read on Talkingpointsmemo that Joe Leiberman might sell us out on Social Security and cut a deal with the horrible *ies. That's it, anything I can do to defeat Holy Joe, I'm gonna do it. Traitor.

5. Lieberman, I'm listening to Majority Report calling
him a back stabber. He backing down on Social Security. That is really a mean thing to do. Why is he is doing it?
Just said "Screw him!" about Lieberman. I'm angry about Joe.

9. He's backing down?
Seriously, that's bullshit. The Dems were supposed to unite on this fucking issue. Fuck him! Now we're screwed.

10. Read the Talking Points Memo post
depressing as hell. Here is an excerpt:

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2005_02_20.php#004904

I talk to various of Sen. Lieberman's political friends and we wonder between ourselves: What is it exactly? Is he just a man out of time now? Too stung by how the 2004 primaries went and just doesn't care what Dems think? Or maybe he thinks he's legislating for history here. A lot of folks who are generally in line with Lieberman, and like him, ended up not supporting him in the primaries because they worried not about his political views but about his political judgment. So the irony here is that he's displaying the same political tin ear and questionable judgment that kept many like-minded Dems from supporting him. And their very lack of support stung him so badly that it has accentuated those tendencies that kept them off the Joe team to begin with.

SNIP

Millions rely on Social Security, a right earned through a lifetime of work. It's a compact between citizens and between generations. And like all truly good legislation it makes for good policy and good politics. One senator from Connecticut is a small thing when weighed in that balance.

He's the deal-maker. All the signs are showing it.

Sen. Lieberman's popular in Connecticut. But there must be some folks in Connecticut who support Social Security too.

12. This might just do it.
But the fight ain't over yet. This is *the* significant issue of the 109th (weasel) Congress for the Democrats. I imagine that Holy Joe is about to become the object of some intensive lobbying from the Dem Leadership. And I imagine that he is about to be read the riot act as to the consequences of his actions. And, dear lord in heaven, is that man ever going to get lobbied by AARP and a ton of other Dem and liberal groups. So it ain't over, but this is very depressing news.

Nelson is for it plus Jeffords and some moderate Repubs.

8. oh gads!
What an ass! What kind of Demcrats are in Connecticut anyway? Are there any groups there that can get really active against him doing that? I just don't understand him doing this garbage because he's not in any danger of losing his seat. He's just worthless.

20. His polling is through the roof
He polls at 70% from both Republicans and Democrats in CT. He can afford to take a stand once in a while.
