encouraging news on Teddy (with JK mention)
Edited on Tue May-19-09 04:47 PM by MBS
Some heartening news for a change, with the bonus of mention of JK's friendship with Teddy. .

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/kennedys-cancer-in-remission-2009-05-19.html

Sen. Edward Kennedy’s brain cancer is in remission and he is expected back in the Senate after the Memorial Day recess to spearhead healthcare reform, according to Democratic colleagues.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Tuesday that he spoke with Kennedy’s wife, Vicki, in the past few days and was told the 77-year-old lawmaker is “doing fine.”

. . . .

Kennedy, the chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, . . . is expected to lead a markup of highly anticipated health reform legislation in his first month back - .. . .

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), a senior member of the HELP Committee, said that Kennedy is scheduled to return to the Senate full time the week after Memorial Day recess to chair the committee markup.

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), one of Kennedy’s closest friends in the Senate, also said that Kennedy would return to wield the gavel on healthcare reform during the first week in June. . .

Keep up the good work, Teddy! :toast:We need you and love you!:dem:

3. Alas, Reid's office and Kennedy's office have issued "clarifications" today
No "remission" . .
But the fact that Teddy is doing what he's doing, "remission" or not, confirms that Teddy's commitment, determination, and irrepressible life force are still at 100%. So he deserves the toast more than ever!

I just assumed it was the Lion being amazing! Bless him for fighting on for healthcare and justice!
