Politically - it will be cheered on DU, but if it becomes widely known - it will likely be very controversial in the MSM. The fact is that Iran has been demonized to such a degree that even many who lean left have bought everything. Pakistan, not Iran, broke the non-proliferation treaty - both in creating their bomb and in selling their technology everywhere. Pakistan pretty much started the Taliban. Yet, it is Iran, not Pakistan, on the "axis of evil".
Also remember they have an election tomorrow. In 2005, Bush actually impacted the results - by suggesting that pro-democracy supporters not vote because it was not a free election (which it wasn't) and by his threats that made the country more defensive and willing to support a demagogue. (The Republicans then demonized all Iranian leaders - past and present - with Governor Romney refusing to provide protection for the Former Pro-democracy President, Khatami when he spoke in Boston. Later, Jeff Beatty confused Khatomi and the current President in a debate with Senator Kerry - when he spoke of the Davos panel that both Kerry and Khatomi were on. )
