All I can say is Graham is no match for Senator Kerry! (Didn't Graham have the same problem with his right eye closing when Kerry debated him about the economic crisis and Obama's vs McCain's actions? His eye seemed ok at other times - I think he knew how outmatched he was and was extremely nervous.)

8. I noticed that, too! (the eye thing)
He (Graham) looked very uncomfortable indeed. And I can't exactly say I blame him. I think I would be too in his position (Senator Kerry is quite the skillful debater).

The Senator did a great job, as always. I especially liked how he called the GOP out on the straw man arguments they like to make, to distract from the real issues, that they have a "tried and true tradition" of doing so. How true!

9. Well, my take is it wasn't due to nervousness, but just a twitchy eye
I have had that before, but it seems Graham has it a lot. I thought it was due to a lack of potassium or something.

Anyway, I sensed Graham knew he was losing which is why he smirked (and really, with some of his eye roll inducing comments, he was his own worst enemy). I also thought there was zero animosity between those two men. Remember they are both ex-prosecutors, and I think they get along, even if they disagree. I could see them having a beer afterward.

10. Kerry gave the best assessment of Obama and Iran
of anyone I saw on TV last night, and I watched at least this topic reported on about six shows (thankyou, DVR). Obama has been saying the same thing all along and this latest isn't some big departure--regardless of that the media says. I loved how he reminded us about the Cairo speech and how that might have influenced the situation in the Middle East. But how it's really Iran's problem, not ours and we need to be careful. And to be patient and look at the big picture.

Graham, typically, wanted to look at everything ideologically, saying that if only Obama would do what Bush did (and failed miserably at), things would work out better! Huh?? I like how Kerry referred to that--how we "had tried that for eight years and it didn't work".

And I really love it when he deconstructs political tactics like the "straw man". Not that Graham or any of them will just give it up already--it's all they've got.
