Pickens and Senate Dems (sigh)
Got this via A Siegel on Huff Po:

http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/climate-change/dems-angry-with-reid-dorgan-for-playing-footsie-with-swift-boat-billionaire/

Apparently, Pickens has been invited to speak at the Senate leadership lunch with the Democratic Policy Committee (Dorgan is chairman of this).

Specifically, Dems are grumbling that Senators Harry Reid and Byron Dorgan have been too willing to play footsie with T. Boone Pickens, the notorious Texas oil billionaire who spent millions bankrolling the Swift Boat Vets’ attacks on John Kerry and has recently gotten lots of ink for his wind energy proposals to reduce dependency on foreign oil.

...

“This guy spent millions smearing our 2004 nominee and endorsed Mccain over Obama,” the aide groused. “T. Boone has done his part to set back the environmental movement and we shouldn’t be giving him the royal treatment. He bankrolled the most expensive smear in campaign history and we’re standing in line to kiss his ass. We don’t need him, he needs us, and we’re building this guy up into something he’s not and never has been.”

I wonder whose aide that is. Regardless, the whole situation stinks.

The fact is not only do we not need him, he is a con man. CA was smart enough to defeat the referendum written to enrich him. Additionally, it is not just that he was a big funder of the worst smear in my lifetime, he STILL persists in claiming it is true. Until he admits to lying about Kerry's service. It is still mind boggling that the Republicans were willing to sink to that level - that the Democrats give this guy credibility is repulsive.

Here is the committee:

3. and that is supposedly the policy committee!
Can we replace the lot of them with JK?

Can the aide replace his Senator unless he agrees? It is wrong that the price of running a strong, high road campaign is that your reputation is trashed by lies - that continue when you have less a forum to address them. (Yet it is Palin, who objects to people pretty much telling the truth.)

4. It does make one roll one's eyes
But it is apparently the reality of our current Senate. An uphill road for someone like JK, but he's strong from biking, he can take those hills. :-)

On the other hand, apparently he now has to live with INHOFE on SFRC!!!!!!!!!!!! That's just a little too much for anyone to have to take!

6. Inhofe?
It's official then, it's Lugar and the 7 Dwarfs.

My deepest condolences to the sane people on the committee staff.

Inhofe was obviously added by the wingnuts to counter Sen. Kerry's efforts to secure consent on diplomatic efforts to get action on global warming efforts. It's a dig by the wingnuts. It's their idea of a "funny."
