Which is why I posted in the OP the way I did. She's been married before and isn't thrilled about it. I don't understand accepting the commitment of a child and not a marriage, but it's not up to me.

My daughter and her husband are getting a divorce, so marriage certainly doesn't equate to permanence, that's for sure.

Thanks for the well wishes. My son is 32 and I think not so sure he'd ever get to be a dad, so he is just thrilled.
